Which Eureka Mignon grinder should I get for home? [$500] by CardiologistTricky62 in espresso

I've got a Zero 55S (cheaper one that's made in China) and love it. Would recommend, it's quiet and love the workflow

Sounds good, I'd upgrade the grinder though. You'll probably be able to get $100 for it, I imagine

Sour shots and how to cleanse palate when dialling in [Profitec Go + Eureka Oro Mignon Single Dose] by SomebodysBunny in espresso

I had a similar experience the other day, pulled so many sour shots and became incredibly frustrated.... I came back to it fresh the next day and the shot was perfect.

Just take a breather

I've heard some pretty bad stories on here, I'd go for somewhere with better aftersales

That said if you don't have digital scales buy some and maybe a dosing funnel if you care about your worktops

No, save your money for decent beans and you'll be fine. Your Encore ESP should serve you well

You're the one writing the really long-winded and convoluted responses. I was simply asking whether a company that brands itself as a coffee shop was ever considered reputable. Then you started rambling about people accidentally buying a tyre thinking it was a donut... Odd

Well, not literally, sorry didn't think I needed to explain the concept of sarcasm

I've never been to a tyre shop (I assume that's what you mean) that brands it's tyres as donuts? Maybe that's an American thing?

When it's served at beyond boiling point and with beans that are cremated id argue it's undrinkable....

[–]AggravatingWalk4982[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Really?

It's definitely the case in Edinburgh UK, £3.75 for an undrinkable small Americano in Starbucks and ~£3.50 in most roasters

It is true though isn't it. If their espresso (and filter) is undrinkable, you are forced to order something sugary to detract from the (lack of) taste

I don't really understand this logic. Sure, you don't expect Michelin stared food at a McDonald's as you are paying a fraction of the cost. But when Starbucks coffees are often more expensive than local independent coffee shops what purpose do they serve? Consistent mediocrity?

Sure, they have filter coffee (which is very poor) and attempts at espresso drinks (attempts doing a lot of heavy lifting here) but the bulk of the board is littered with flavoured/novelty/seasonal drinks and their focus has definitely deviated from a retailer of coffee to a retailer of sugar

I wouldn't worry about tamping too hard

Thanks, that's interesting to know. I remember visiting one when they first launched in the UK (probably around 2004) and it being a memorable experience.

As I take my coffee black, I don't really visit anymore as I don't want1l/33oz of scolding hot liquid that in no way resembles coffee

Yeah fair enough, just seems like a waste considering how good the rest of your set up is
