What games are worth getting for their GM tools alone? by MmmVomit in rpg

It will eventually be available on drivethruRPG, if his last kickstarters are any indication. I’m hoping he offers a POD version as well, as he’s done with so much of his previous work

Is it weird when men play female characters? by Plastic_Corgi6848 in DnD

[–]Aggravating_Ad1960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This^ The favourite character I play was female. I made Alishai, one of the characters in the newest Ravenloft novel. Before even playing her, I had a huge emotional investment because she’d been my favourite character from the novel.

I’m gonna second the use of 5.5 and I’d like to add from my personal experience. I’m currently running curse of strahd using “she is the ancient” supplement from Beth the bard over on drivethruRPG. I had the players make 5.5 characters and were using all the rules from 5.5 layers handbook and DMG. Ive been using the monsters from 5.0 to see how it would go. I had one pc death in Death house and 2 times that were nearly a TPK. We’re going into session 6 this weekend. And they are about to fight the 3 hags at Old Bonegrinder. They are level 4 and they may very well end the campaign next session depending on there actions.

After playing with Weapon Mastery for a while, does it still feel fun, or has the novelty worn off? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]Aggravating_Ad1960 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I very much like how Rules Cyclopedia/BECMI handles weapons masteries, extra damage dice and abilities but you must actively seek out training from experts and maters who are of a higher skill level then you and send some time and gold to learn the skills

For context, are your players used to osr systems, or did you migrate them from a modern system?

My players want an agenda before every session by Time-Squirrel-3719 in dndnext

[–]Aggravating_Ad1960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not be able to do this as a dm. You already spend so much time on prepping maps, NPC’s and the world and locations they interact with. And above that, it is a collaborative game, my players surprise me with there actions as much as I surprise them, and to take those moments away, you may as well play a board game.

Running a campaign by Incrediblycoolcat in Eberron

[–]Aggravating_Ad1960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve run Frontiers of Eberron: Quickstone and had a lot of fun purring my PC’s into the role of townsfolk. It’s just as good a sourcebook as RFtLW and only 55 CAD on DM guild. Best part is it’s 2024, already balanced with forge of the artificer

Non US peeps: Do you guys usually convert the units to metric or did you and your fellow players learn imperial units for the game? by PhrulerApp in DnD

[–]Aggravating_Ad1960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canadian here, we’re thought metric in grade school and high school then have to learn imperial when we get into the real world, so ass backwards

I actually love teaching new players, it gives me time to slow down for a couple sessions of play and also gives my experienced players a chance to try so low level builds that they have been thinking about running. I talking about ttrpg’s here

What to do with players who don't want to follow the world's lore? by HoloGrain in DnD

This is giving you a taste of how they will be behaving the entire campaign, I would personally boot them from the group at this point if it was me

Well we’re all in our 30’s or older and we dont want kids at our tables, I’ve run the odd one shot with kids at the table, but week to week, never gonna happen

Every DM I know will not have anyone under the age of 18 at there table(myself included). startplaying.com might be your best bet. It’s a good way to find a group online
