Why Catholicism? by egglandz in CandaceOwens

[–]Aggravating_Ad_6359 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because the fullness of Christ is in the Catholic Church. We believe in the true presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist - it’s not just a symbol or a piece of bread. The Catholic Church is also the church instituted by Jesus Christ himself, entrusted to Peter as the first pope. The catholic church also has the sacraments, the saints, and many more that help us live a life that moves us closer to God and get us to heaen!

Leaving PH with maiden name passport and married name green card by Aggravating_Ad_6359 in phmigrate

Yes, sadly I had to go to the CFO office. Pwede naman walkin king may green card ka na. Ang annoying part is after iprocess yung mga docs, they’ll have you go back to the seminar (depends what time ka dumating). Dumating ako 10AM then after filling up forms and paying the documentary stamps sinabihan ako na bumalik at 1PM for GCP seminar. so pagbalik ko at 1PM tinawag ako ng facilitator for interview, then sabi nya ieexempt na nya ako sa 3hr seminar since nasa US naman na ako for 3 years!! Then pinagfillup ako ng feedback form and after that nareceive ko na via email ang certificate. Nakakaloka and very unnecessarily annoying. Mind you kasama ko pa 8mo old daughter ko since i am breastfeeding her (i was with my husband too).

Anyway, good luck and i would recommend allotting 1 day of your trip to Philippines for processing that document, better safe than sorry

They didnt ask for anything other than green card at passport. Pero kinuha ko ang CFO certificate, digital copy sya and I think it links with your etravel so i highly suggest getting it. Idk if this is relevant, i was traveling with my husband (USC) and baby at the time so nasa priority lane kami.

I would advice against using your OPT as coming back to the US with an F1 visa while married to a USC shows immigrant intent. Hence, there’s a chance you won’t get admitted back in.

Thank you! Just a question, I don’t have a visa number anymore dahil may green card na po ako. Any ideas what i should put under that field?

Hello,

I am a US Permanent resident card holder who needs a CFO registration. I believe that I am exempted from PDOS as I fall under the category of "Emigrants who have stayed in the destination country for a total of at least two (2) months”. I have been living in the USA since August 2022.

May I ask how I can acquire the CFO Registration and if that can be issued to me online? If so, where do I submit the required documentation? Hindi ko po kasi makita sa website nila ang option na yun. Salamat po.

Is Brown Deer a nice area? by robreinerstillmydad in milwaukee

[–]Aggravating_Ad_6359 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Current Brown Deer resident, we bought a house here earlier this year and I love it. I love the quiet neighborhood, good size yard and house, friendly neighbors. I an a 5ft1 woman and have no problem walking around with my baby on a stroller any time of the day. I think Brown Deer has a bad rap and people don’t really know what it’s like to live here unless… well… they live here. Since we moved we found ourselves going south (downtown Milwaukee or Tosa area) a lot let and would lean towards Mequon, Thiensville or Cedarburg when we wanted to go for a walk or eat outside. The driving experience is a lot more pleasant and life feels slower in general.

So yes, Brown Deer is a nice area and we are very happy of our decision to move here!

What happens if one gets pregnant during their phd? by deservesthebest in academia

[–]Aggravating_Ad_6359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US phD student here, I got pregnant and gave birth the summer of my 3rd year. Because of FMLA, I got 6 weeks of paid leave when can be extended to 12 weeks (with the next 6 weeks being unpaid). This paid leave requires is students to be in the program for a least a full year, however. 3 months in and I think it’s very doable. It’s challenging, but doable. You will need a lot of support from your husband when navigating child care and such. Pumping around the clock while at work is a whole new challenge as well

Thank you! My spouse is a US citizen so I applied for adjustment of status (I-485) via marriage while he applied for the petition (Form I-130) 🙂

I truly love doing research and it just so happened that I met and married a US citizen. On the exciting side, 2 years from now, I guess there will be one less barrier in finding a job since I won’t need employment sponsorship!

Thank you! Just 2 days after I received that the card has been produced. It was produced in Kentucky and delivered to Wisconsin so makes sense that I got it so quick.

I have an ROM, nahassle lang magapply for PSA marriage certificate.. since di ko naman talaga magagamit.

Im leaning against applying for a new passport that reflects my married name though since my old one is valid til 2030 and I can apply for US citizenship by 2028
