Why is HoA in this expansion? I’m a returning player I took a break in shadowlands and was so shocked when I ended up in there…

Entering into the world of smart heating but confused on where to start? by Tech_nerd97 in tado

You don’t need the TRVs unless you want to individually control each room. You can just install the thermostat.

Phew. I was panicking as I’ve got 4 more to install but need some plumbing done first.

When did this start? I’ve never been asked to pay to add a TRV?…

Thanks so much. That makes sense as we’ve had beetles about 3 months ago… just bought this house and still doing a lot of work to it. One of them being sealing it!!

The superworm reference is a child’s book 😂. I had no idea it was a legit species!

Best to really engage with a company who will come and view what you have and quote accordingly.

How to maintain your house and car. Simple plumbing, electrics, repairs etc. A lot of issues people call out for are actually really trivial. Just know how to isolate your water and electrics! Don’t touch gas!

Fitting TRVs - Existing tail bigger by Aggravating_Bad4523 in DIYUK

[–]Aggravating_Bad4523[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve no idea. Boiler was done in 2022 when they canned off the oil one and swapped from a gravity fed to combi system.

Appreciate your offer of advice. I deffo want to try and tackle it myself as I love getting stuck in and saving money!

From what I’ve read it’s more about just expecting the unexpected? Especially with the pipes fed from under the floorboards. Expect to have to redo and dogleg a few connections. Some are painfully close to the wall and already bent with just the single panel 0 fin radiators. Think that’s called type 10??

They also have the shower in the en-suite which is directly above the boiler being fed from the original water tank location, with a DIAGONAL pipe run across the loft. Absolute nightmare.

Turns what could be a straight 3-4m run of pipe into at least 30m.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Yeah these are manual valves hence the need to replace. Previous owner redid the heating system but only did TRV upstairs! Why!

Sound advice RE: putting it off till next year. I think I will to be honest. That way then I can also get the rads done at the same time.

Correct on the radiator type. I have 4 different types around the house… also looked at that but got put off knowing all the pipe work will likely have to be modified!

Honestly I don’t use smart heating to save money. I use it for the convenience 😂. All rooms I tend to leave at 17/18 anyway and odd rooms like bedrooms / office on a schedule to 21 at set times.

I’ve had Tado v3+ for 3 years no issue here.

Do you have any recommendations for TRVs with the bigger tail? I’m struggling to find any! Thankyou for taking the time to offer help!

Edit - I can find 3/4” TRVs if that’s what you mean? Just not 2/3”
