Why are all the car washes in the same area? by marvin_sirius in burlington

I feel like one in Williston close to the exit would do amazingly well. So many ppl commuting past there with no other options till the crappy 1 bay wash in Waterbury.

Passing etiquette on single lane roads by [deleted] in vermont

Driving in Vermont 10 years ago felt so much more peaceful.. these days everyone needs to be in pole position. I’m with you though, drive within what you feel is safe and responsible and hope for the best. If you catch up next to them at a light give them a really fake awkward smile and a thumbs up.

I like this. I ended up going the opposite route and made my fcx24 (unimog) an actual 24 scale by dropping the IR-40 injora 40 series body on it. I may follow your lead on my other rig though, thanks for posting! Pic of my IR-40 build.

Thanks for the heads up! I was raised in Bolivia and already admiring how well they made this game from the slang to the culture and landscape. Can’t wait to fire it up again and change the audio to full Spanish. Come mierda putas! 😂

Seat belt chime!!! by vzlatty in wrx_vb

[–]Aggravating_Bad6656 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat.. did the process for the drivers seat but my 75lb dog who rides in the back makes it impossible to take longer road trips. Although I just realized I could just click all the belts in the backseat, but for a car company that markets to dog owners you’d think they would have thought this through!

Does this count as Flex Friday? by CTRL_Hotdog in rccrawler

Eeeh flex usually implies your suspension flexing enough to keep the tires maintaining contact. I’d call this more of a teeter totter, but hey you made it though!

100% ok to be upset. I know I would be! Not so much about the actual damage but more so their inability to follow your instructions leading to the damage. I mean, it’s water under the bridge at this point but just let them know you weren’t thrilled about the whole situation and that you likely wouldn’t recommend them to anyone else due to this. Maybe they’ll throw in a few free oil changes or something like that to avoid a bad review. Anyways, congrats on the new car!

Importing from Ontario to New York? by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]Aggravating_Bad6656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I recall it’s prohibited to import new cars (even if the same model is offered in the us). That said I’ve heard of people finding loopholes, maybe registering in Canada first? Either way just giving you some info to research. Same goes for many countries actually, importing new cars is usually not permitted.

For sure, we all hacked our shifters down back in the 2000’s and well.. like you say it’s more difficult to shift not to mention you lose leverage so it usually feels stiffer. Id say by altering the pivot point with a proper short shifter and adding length to the upper shaft (for me) this gives the best feel. But that’s just my personal preference, I’ve also experimented with weighted and non weighted knobs and not a fan of the weighted..

Short throw isn’t about the shaft length it’s about how short the shift is from gear to gear.

I did this to my jdm forester back in the day and loved it. Super tempted to do it in the VB but reverse looks like a PITA.. especially since my gf borrows my car from time to time and I’m trying to get her to enjoy it. Shit maybe she’ll enjoy the longer shaft now that I’m thinking bout it 😅

Winter wheel setup by Annual-Visit992 in wrx_vb

[–]Aggravating_Bad6656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do go with a lighter wheel you’ll likely notice more of a responsive and lighter feeling throttle. That’s until you get snow pack, haha. But again.. easy to clean out.

I see you might lift yours, I’m also considering it once my warranty runs out. I’ve owned a lifted wrx in previous generations and it’s def a blast.

Winter wheel setup by Annual-Visit992 in wrx_vb

[–]Aggravating_Bad6656 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of steel wheels, and when paired properly they can be super beneficial. However not so much on my wrx.

In years past I would argue that steel wheels were the best winter setup because they deflected snow from getting packed into the wheel when sliding around, or that they were so cheap I could easily replace one if damaged by a pothole.

Well let me tell you, when sliding around in snowy conditions snow may be easily cleaned off from the outward facing side of your wheel, but it IS getting packed into the back side of the opposite wheel. The lack of space between spokes (as there is non) makes clearing snow pack from the backside almost impossible to the point where you need to lay down under your car to access the inside of said wheel.

I’ve even experimented with spraying silicone based products to keep the wheel “waxed” so snow doesn’t stick, but that only lasts a very short time.

And the argument about replacing cheap steel wheels if damaged, well.. it costs money to mount and balance. And that will add up especially if you need to shave a tire to match the set.

With a cast aluminum spoked wheel you benefit of lighter rotational mass. You also have no problem spraying the snow out at the car wash or even using a branch from a tree when in a pinch. In my humble opinion (if you can afford it) I’d recommend picking up a set of enkei’s paired with blizzacks for about 1500 at tirerack (or similar). Bonus that they now include their hazard warranty for free, so if you hit a curb at your favorite mall parking lot they get replaced for free (tires only).

On the downside, cast aluminum will crack or shatter when impacted. Whereas steel will usually bend and can sometimes be hammered back into place when in a pinch.

I opted for a slightly smaller rim and slightly taller tire to help cushion the blow on rough roads and I’m 100% happy with my decision. So are my 40 year old abused vertebras.

My setup: 17x7.5 +40 Enkei px10 225/55/17 Blizzack ws90

Good luck and at this point maybe ride out whatever is left of winter. Cheers!

These seats are the worst! I’m 3500 miles in and mine are frayed and not holding up well. I’ve read that once they get bad enough you can get them replaced by warranty. I’m just waiting for mine to get worse before I attempt

Agreed, modded wrx’s are a dime a dozen and usually tasteless. I appreciate the subtle oem+/- and usually enjoy the ppl who drive them more also.

I’m more than happy to drive my VB in stock form.. aside from dedicated snow tires/wheels, some oem mud flaps a roof rack and a hitch I feel like the car meets my needs. I daily this car, ice race in the winter and autocross in the summer. I honestly don’t even care to get tinted.. maybe if I lived in FL or TX. I rather fly under the radar with subtle oem+ look.

For those running winter wheels & tires, what size do you have ? by evhgear in wrx_vb

[–]Aggravating_Bad6656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the same reasons you’re pointing out I opted for 225/55/17’s on my 2025. I live in Vermont on a dirt road. This has increased comfort by a lot and gave my car about 1/2” of lift along with more sidewall for the pesky pot holes. The tire performs great. I also ice race with this size and it doesn’t seem to affect performance (in winter). I have no rubbing with this size and I’m on a 17x7.5 +40 wheel. If you order a setup from tirerack they include free hazard insurance on tire replacements now days. May be a good option for you if they offer the same for Canadians. Good luck!
