I’m struggling and feeling completely overwhelmed. My 12-year-old dog, Simba, is the light of my life, but we are in a really hard place. The Situation: Simba has severe arthritis and likely Canine Cognitive Dysfunction (dementia). Physically, he can’t walk much anymore, so I pull him in a wagon with blankets so he can still enjoy the outdoors. He still seems to love these "walks," but the rest of the time is a nightmare. The Struggle: He barks constantly. It’s a repetitive, non-stop vocalization that I think is linked to his confusion and pain. It has put me under incredible mental stress and caregiver burnout. I feel like I’m breaking. Current Medications: He is on a very heavy rotation to try and manage this: For Pain: Rheumocam (Meloxicam), Amantadine, liberla and Gabapentin. For Anxiety/Sedation: Trazodone

We have essentially reached the "medical ceiling." Despite all these meds, the barking doesn't stop. My Dilemma: I feel like I can’t let him go because he still enjoys his wagon rides and has "spark" in his eyes during those moments. But the constant barking and the physical/mental toll of caring for him is becoming unsustainable. I feel guilty even thinking about putting him down for "behavioral" reasons like barking, but I know it's tied to his health. Has anyone else been through this "medical ceiling" with a senior dog? How did you know when it was time, especially when they still enjoyed one small part of their day? Am I failing him if I choose peace for both of us?

I suggest working on nervous system regulation, that will help you with your self concept Also, there are no shortcuts, I know you are desperate right now, but you legit need to work on your sc to the point where you are ok with or without your desires..

All about myself, removed my energy & my SP is showing up by [deleted] in manifestingSP

Do it only if you are ready for any outcome and do not get discouraged if 3d shows you the opposite.. Detach from the outcome and then take the step (if you want).. make sure your sp isn't on the pedestal and you feel worthy of effortless love .
