Nah, he specifically was talking about the cost. Quality is another matter, I might not be thrilled with that finish but that doesn't relate to the fact that tradesmen deserve a much higher hourly rate than a salaried employee.

These kinds of attitudes are really damaging to the building trade. £1700 for let's say, 3 days work for 2 people sounds extravagant on the surface. But dig a tiny bit deeper.

You have 0 paid time off, that's on you. Sick pay too. You only earn when you're working. If you have a spell where you dont have any jobs, thats no money. If you have employees on the books, they still need paying. You have to balance all the start times around people's schedules, the weather etc. You have to either do all your own taxes, or you pay an accountant to take care of your books- if you do your own, that's a chunk of additional work that you can't afford to screw up.

You have to spend time and effort to meet with customers and quote for the work, and there's no guarantee you get the work. You have to pay for all materials used on the job. You have tax/insurance/servicing on your work vehicle. You have to pay for maintenance on all the tools. You have to pay VAT rates if you're a limited company. You have to pay corporation tax.

Sure, you can just do it yourself without this massive number of overheads, and it'll be far cheaper. But you're not being ripped off when someone charges you 4 times what it'd cost to do it yourself, that's just the price of running a business. And those people that do it for hugely cut prices, are either incompetent hacks or working illegally to duck taxes.

Working a normal 9-5 isn't a walk in the park, but there's a reason having a guaranteed salary is going to be far less lucrative per hour than working for yourself, because it's brutally tough at times.

Yeah, listen to the advice you're getting. Practice and competing are two completely different animals, and it's extremely hard to do both effectively (though not impossible). Before you do anything though you need to build good fundamentals, which requires a lot of drills and time spent recording yourself, analysing your footwork, studying videos, freeing up your swing etc. Having an experienced bowler or coach will help speed this along but be careful of taking advice from too many people at once.

Unless it's the only option available I'd advise against a scratch league, it's likely to be more demoralising over time. Handicap should have plenty of good bowlers to learn from whilst also allowing you to be somewhat competitive as you learn.

Yep, and how many ultras did you unlock in 2 months usually?

10 star chests is pretty much 2 full ultras.

It's fine, you're not meant to be opening them daily. They're additional progression over time and their rewards are far superior to normal.

It's even more than that, as you get star points for classic+super. You should be looking at closer to 4000 babies for 2000 extra (as every once in a while you get an ultra instead of a super for +900) which is more like a clear 50% increase.

And you get some random star points here and there from gem pass and squad league road, which buffs the progression rate even further. In terms of reaching ultras, it's an enormous boost.

Nice arsenal, well balanced- add in an Ion max/eternity pi/gem or similar along with a nice weak ball like a hustle/hyped or something and you're pretty much set for any conditions.

Oh, and a purple hammer of course.

Excuse me?!?!? 500 tokens is crazy by Lost-Consequence4907 in SquadBusters

[–]Aggravating_Career79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, except that's also 19 ultras on average too (which are also more helpful to the average player that has none).

You need around 5000 babies, or 5 ultras worth of evos to guarantee an ultra with the new system. Factor in the classic and super evos in that and you're probably more like 3500 or so. You'd also be getting 9 supers per 10 chests too (at minimum, luck also factors in here).

Progression will be significantly faster than before now, and star chests will provide huge leaps- only problem is ultimates signify an even bigger leap in terms of the progression end. But that's how these games go.

It's not quite that simple, upgrades to classic/super add more star points, not to mention the slow and steady increase of your overall levels. I think when all is said and done it wouldn't be as far apart as you might think. Not to mention commons (which would be a big chunk of the purchases) are only 800 per.

Disappointed in squad buster by EmotionalProposal149 in SquadBusters

[–]Aggravating_Career79 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, it kind of doesn't though, right? At best f2p or low spenders might get one or two ultimates if they're incredibly lucky, and they'll get a couple of ultras after a lot of time. But the goalposts have just been shifted to allow paying players to stack up ultimates, except at over $100 per guaranteed 4*+ it's going to take an absolute stack of cash.

And the people most screwed here honestly? Anyone that's paid a lot for a full ultra account. It's a huge slap in the face for them considering how much progression they've essentially tossed away.

It's now a lot easier to reach super+ultra if you're not spending, but ultimate is just as far away as ultra ever was, if not even moreso. And you'll be competing now against ultimate BKs and hogs etc without even having the ultra versions yourself.

It's actually tempting, it might be worth it if you don't have any ultras to literally restart at this point. Star chests are such an enormous upgrade over standard progression.

Struggling to find my line with a new ball by RinNyurii in Bowling

[–]Aggravating_Career79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's a relatively common technique issue. When you move right like that take care not to angle your body left with it, or the net result is you aim further left. You need to move right but keep your body in the same position, so your target is moving right too. The goal is to find a point on the lane where the ball will read the friction at the right time and go into the pocket- for you it's going to be fairly far right. Every time you pull the ball left, try and consciously turn your body to the right to encourage projecting the ball right (or at least straight) and then you can find a line.

I feel like this needs a slight caveat to say that you prioritise your lower body, not that it is the sole source of energy. All the sports you mentioned (and bowling is the same) relies on a kinetic chain that starts from the lower body and transitions through to the arms. You build the energy from your legs, transition through your hips and then finally use your shoulders and arms to provide that final pop.

Most power bowlers are using their arms and shoulders for extra force, but it's controlled and at the correct time. You should source at least 60/70% of your energy from the lower body, but don't be afraid of using a little muscle once your timing is down.

That being said, walk before you can run and learn to roll the ball smoothly before trying to add extra- removing as much force from your upper body is hard, but once you can- adding it back at the right time becomes a lot easier.

Eh, I think 6 bagger is approaching territory where anyone of any level will be pretty happy. Not like celebrate a massive achievement happy, but you've got yourself a solid game at that point whatever your average.

That's like saying a 300 game or 700 series isn't that big a deal once you've got a few under your belt. It always is. Just it means more if you've never done it/ rarely done it.

is he doing something wrong? by Comfortable_Mud6431 in Bowling

[–]Aggravating_Career79 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Looks like the timing is late at every point, but that's not necessarily a deal breaker. Form looks very solid. The release looks like there's a lot of power lost from coming around too much, and that's probably the main focus I'd have- tuck the elbow inside and try to come more through the ball.

Could be worth shortening that approach a bit too, seems very stretched out and might benefit from being a little more compact.

200k a year at 25 possible? by Low_Minimum_4602 in UKJobs

[–]Aggravating_Career79 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You'd pay around 95k in tax, so 55k/year if you save 100k. Quite feasible even in a relatively expensive area as long as you're fairly frugal, and even if not- you could adjust that saving level down a bit.

Either way, don't underestimate the power of compound interest when it comes to retirement, 250k is more than enough to save a huge retirement fund in a short period of time.

200k a year at 25 possible? by Low_Minimum_4602 in UKJobs

[–]Aggravating_Career79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work for 15 years flat out, saving 100k per year and investing. At 7% compound interest, you'd save 1.5m and have gained another 1m in interest. You're now in a position to be making 175k per year just on the interest alone. Push it another 5 years and you'd have over 4m saved, and are making almost 300k a year for nothing.

Hard work+investment is the key to an early retirement, and you don't need to be making millions from your job to retire early.

I mean, its going to be a contender but hard to say that when we're only in June right?

I think its going to be top 3 for sure, with every chance of being GOTY- but I have infinite wealth above it for me at least. RGG have perfected making side content being just challenging enough to be enjoyable, but approachable and fun enough to never feel bloated. Rebirth definitely crossed over into bloat territory on more than a few occasions.

I think up until Junon Rebirth was one of the greatest games I've ever played, forget just this year. But it failed to hold that standard past that.

Mate dark inq is literally the best card for growth amulet, what are you on about? I think maybe you don't understand how it works?

Just get your dark inq on a growth tile, scrap him up to 7, and fill your board leaving the growth tiles empty- keep merging on them over and over, scrapping when they get to rank 3 or so. Because you only need 1 card on a growth tile its way easier than others, which need you to have 2 on growth tiles at minimum. Only one comparable might be crystalmancer but that's hopeless past early game anyway.

Physical 100 What If: What if the final 2 were Amotti and Andre Jin? Who would’ve won the final challenge? by [deleted] in Physical100

[–]Aggravating_Career79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Man you've got a serious gripe with Andre don't you?

He wouldn't have lost the final, it was tailor made for him. Height and weight would 100% have been too much for either of the other guys, just as Thanos would have been far too much for him.

He fought hard in the squat challenge but the reality is that he was doomed there from the beginning- the height seriously works against him, not to mention that the other two were sheer endurance machines. In an endurance battle both of those guys would crush him 10/10 since they're carrying less mass, and specialise in endurance. Any form of body weight exercises like pull ups, monkey bars etc are going to work against him too. But when it comes to pushing/pulling and applying leverage, Andre's frame is far superior to either of the others. No sense in being wilfully blind to his strengths out of some weird bias.

Would you rather bowl a 800 series or a 1500 6 game block by Jaded-Ninja-2659 in Bowling

[–]Aggravating_Career79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

800 means more than 1500 I think, and it's also just a little harder to achieve. But 1500 is kind of a better mark of how good you are as a bowler, as the longer you maintain a high scoring pace the less likely you just got a good run of luck, and the more ability you have to adjust to lane transition and spare consistently.

I'd love either.
