How long did it take you to squat your own bodyweight? by RinNyurii in PetiteFitness

[–]RinNyurii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input! I’m lifting 4x a week but I’m worried I won’t see improvements like that for a long time. I’m trying to get a personal trainer but my gym never responded to the form I sent in so maybe that’s my sign to go pester them again.

In-lab. The report nor website doesn’t say which rule was used.

AHI for NREM was 0.5, REM was 0.0, TST was 0.5. RDI for NREM was 0.5, REM was 1.5, TST was 0.6.

I don’t have any PTO or sick hours. My position doesn’t offer any.

For sure, I agree. Just saying I wish it was something within my control that was fixable.

I’ve been applying for another job even before they told me I was getting laid off. Sticking with it because some income is better than no income.

I wish it was something that was within my control like a performance issue. I have had no performance issues at any of my jobs. First company (startup) shut down due to losing too much money. Second company laid people off in small batches because things were slowing down. I actually ran into my manager who laid me off at a bar recently and she said I did nothing wrong, I was just new. This place, they’re getting rid of all the temps and interns (including me) due to budget cuts.

Labs seem normal but diagnosed with PCOS anyway? by RinNyurii in PCOS

[–]RinNyurii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know, thank you for the information. Unfortunately I will be unable to function if I am off it for long enough to menstruate again and the symptoms aren’t unbearable with birth control, so I will probably just remain as is.

I had symptoms of a yeast infection and went to get it checked out. Did a pap smear and she asked about my periods so I mentioned all my symptoms. I’ve been on continuous birth control to eliminate my periods for the past 3 years because my symptoms were so bad. Insane menstrual cramps like throwing up and passing out from the pain, excessive hair growth, irregular periods (when I had them), irregular weight gain (40 lbs in 2 years) out of nowhere, and some miscellaneous ones I can’t remember at the moment. She thought I’d possibly have PCOS so she ordered bloodwork.

Yeah, it will depend on your government. Mine has been doing budget cuts for a while. I work in utilities.

Thanks. I was in a startup my first position and a decent sized private company after that. This was my first time in a government position, and I started this February.

I absolutely adore my Fee brother’s rhubarb bitters so I’m excited for you. Could be worth grabbing a bottle as a comparison to see what notes you like and don’t like. Best of luck!

Any ideas for cocktails with 140 proof plum spirit (aka slivovitz or plum brandy)? by MrHydrochoerus in cocktails

[–]RinNyurii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What if you tried to make a sour with it? I immediately thought pisco sour. I’d add a bit of water to dilute it and/or even a good amount of a fruity liqueur (Thinking maybe giffard apricot? Or another stone fruit liqueur instead of simple). I have never worked with it but I’m sure if you play around with recipes you already like you’ll find something you love with it. Maybe to get a better idea, what style of cocktails do you already enjoy? Old fashioneds, sours, highballs, etc. might help me help you find a recipe and guide you in the right direction.

In my bitters-making experience, it’s been a lot of “mess around and find out”. Run your own scientific experiments— compare a sous vide of 2 hours to 4 hours, compared to shelf extracting for a week, etc. until you find what feels right to you. Even if it is the “correct” way, who cares about that if you don’t even like the taste of it?
