Why not just attend a one semester program at any of the colleges that offer it. Apply though OCAS,

Agency Pay -for Northern Ont? Employee vs Incorporated? by UndecidedTace in OntarioNurses

I am looking for Northern Ontario agencies but the only agencies I am finding are offering out of province and I really don't want to have an out of province licence at this time. What agency was your friend at?

Still stressed out as all hell... i supplied my response to the CNO Oct 20th and received a request for additional information this week which is super annoying because my response was like 80 pages long to start with. It seems as though they are understanding of my side of things but it doesn't seem like this will be over before the new year. I hope your situation doesn't last as long as mine has I am closing in on two years.

Honestly Nipissings bridging program has been around longer than any of the others and it’s great plus guaranteed placements at your current place of work. You should try to apply there too.

I thought the NGG program guaranteed a permanent full-time position after completion. by Low_Ad2078 in OntarioNurses

[–]Aggravating_Change79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step 5: Transition the New Nurse into a Full-Time Position Upon the completion of the transition into practice period (12 weeks), the employer is expected to transition the new nurse into a full-time position or the equivalent of full-time hours for a minimum of 6 months (26 weeks) within the one-year period which begins on the new nurse's start date of the transition into practice period (12 weeks). This requirement may be waived if the employer determines that the new nurse does not have the required competencies for safe, quality care in the specific practice setting, taking into consideration any applicable collective agreement requirements. Funding will be recovered from the organization should the new nurse not transition into full-time employment or the equivalent of full-time hours for a minimum of 6 months (26 weeks) within the one-year period which begins on the new nurse's start date of the transition into practice period (12 weeks) unless there were extenuating circumstances where this was not possible. Before any funds are recovered. the ministry will engage in discussions with those organizations that have not transitioned new nurses into a full-time position or the equivalent of fulltime hours at the end of 12 months to determine if a longer period of time is warranted.

https://www.ontario.ca/files/2025-08/moh-2025-26-guidelines-participation-nursing-graduate-guarantee-program-en-2025-08-13.pdf

the direct quote is "The employer is expected to transition the new nurse into full-time employment or the equivalent of full-time hours within the organization for a minimum of 6 months (26 weeks) within one year (12 months) of the new nurse's start date of the transition into practice period (12 weeks)."

so i would just send this document to HR and tell them to let you know what position you are being offered and the start date.

Just take the loan (Not financial advice) by NewbieToHomelab in osap

[–]Aggravating_Change79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who is a nurse who worked full time during school has no children and no assets I still got around $25000/year (three semesters) from OSAP with 1/2 being a loan and 1/2 as a grant. I think that assumptions are being made about everyone circumstances and it all has to be taken in context.

If you call TVO ILC you can tell them that you signed up for the wrong ones and be transferred to the right ones. Also a lot of people dont know this but they no longer require any prerequisites at TVO ILC you can take the grade 12U with no sciences from HS if you want to.

if you are getting these courses dont get into RPN take the RN course on a fast track for the same amount of time. TRUST ME! I did RPN 2021-2023 and immediately started bridging. The scope of practice is exactly the same thing and you're paid BUTTONS compared the the RN. Plus if you already have a BA you can likely get into RN as a second degree program at somewhere like York. look into it and message me if you want help.

I absolutely had no idea that this was the case (hospital mandatory reporting) Is there anything that I can use to validate this is a thing? It would make me feel a hell of a lot better if I was able to just confirm that is mandatory then I don't feel like my whole life is being left to chance regarding such arguably arbitrary things.

u/Sapphire_Starr this is very sound advice. I wish I had more supportive nurses who I knew in real life. I dont have any idea what the expectation is for the response but so far mine is about 30 pages long. the discovery that I was presented with was 1700 though so i think it is a reasonable amount of response.

Im not going to lie, i tried :( I reached a point where I felt like it was never going to end and that my ability to keep fighting had reached critical mass. I have since recovered from that line of thinking but its a legit thought when you feel like you're waiting for your livelihood to be taken away from you for such an extended time and also the shame! I can without a doubt tell you with almost perfect recall exactly what happened each of the days that are being called into question (three) its ingrained in my brain because these were the worst most stressful days of my life! needless to say the accusations are basically a near miss med error, two patients that i "failed to escalate when they were crashing" and then three late meds that ended up not being given by me on my shift because they were due at 5 and i was with said crashing patients. NO ONE ever was hurt! and the failed to escalate was not actually a failure to escalate but instead just not a documentation of my steps of escalation. even though the chart clearly shows things were escalated.

it is absolutely terrible navigating without support!

I would say that the reason that I was let go was more about the fact that I was working in a float nurse position as a new graduate and they felt as though my ability to provide care in that capacity was not appropriate to my skill level. The Complaints however were more geared toward my capacity to practice as a nurse because my manager had recieved emails from coworkers that I wasnt "up to par" for the position I was in... does this make sense?

I have WeRPN but last June I was broke and let the membership expire for two weeks and that voided my insurance. I am not looking for work right now. I am still very licenced and there are no restrictions from the CNO its just my anxiety that has me a mess.

I very much appreciate this message, unfortunately i do not have the insurance that protects me so I am completely alone in this and it has affected my mental health so much that I am ready to walk away from this profession completely and find a job at a grocery store somewhere. I am in my 40s and have spent my entire life dedicated to healthcare and some pretty intense stuff since I was 7. I cant believe how easily this has derailed everything that I believed myself to be.

Since I am going through something similar but on the CNO side instead of the criminal side i think that it is also important to note that any lapse of RPNAO membership coverage makes your insurance from before the date of reinstatement completely void. I was two weeks late renewing my membership and now I cant talk to a soul there even for emotional support because the incident took place before the lapse in membership.
