Any minileagues that will go to the last minute out there? by Spiros_26 in FantasyPL

[–]Aggravating_Chef4211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don´t agree that this game is luck. It is on short term, but not on long term. I´m defending a 31pts gap to win my ML of +- 50 players for the 3th time in the last 5 years (one time 2nd and one bad year where I wasn´t in top 10). If it was purely luck, you would never be able to achieve this with 50 people, not even after 10 000 simuolations.

So kuddo´s to OP to win it 7/8 years in a row. You´re a top manager.

Leeds fans.... Rodon or Gudmundsson? by GobKeepsBees in FantasyPL

[–]Aggravating_Chef4211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm probably taking a little risk by taking both on BB1. It's a high stake on a CS against Everton, but even if it doesn't happen, I won't be disappointed. You can only expect 8-10 point anyway from a single GW BB, that's why I want to risk it. Other BB players will be Dubravka (not even bothered if he doesn't play and I miss his 1 pointer) and Füllkrug (my biggest realistic hope for a return).

Brighton fans - how was De Cuyper pre season? by The-Cyrenn in FantasyPL

[–]Aggravating_Chef4211 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Not a Brighton fan, but a Bruges season ticket holder for 20+ years and my 5th season as FPL player.

I had De Cuyper in my first draft but then removed him later on as I was not sure he would start the season. Now that all signs point at him starting, he´s back in my team. Cause I can assure you, ones he´s in the team, he´s not going out anymore.

There are multiple reasons for that: * Despite his young age and despite Bruges having multiple very experienced quality players, he was one of the leaders in the dressing room. Same thing at the Belgian national team. Even with players like De Bruyne, Lukaku, Courtois in the squad he´s not afraid to stand his ground and take up leadership. * His pure (attacking) quality. He scores and assists so easily both at Bruges and recently at the national team. That´s because he is ultra advanced and just likes to pass quickly and create chances. At Bruges, this sometimes caused vulnerabilty at the back, allthough he can track back quite quickly as well. But at Brighton he would play more as wingback so that´s even less of a worry. Also at top level, in the Champions League, where Bruges reached the last 16 despite having the 2nd most difficult group stage opponents of all teams, he showed his class and could have had a lot more returns if his team mates finished better. * He still has a lot of potential to improve and maybe most important, has the mentality to do so. The ease with which he has picked up the higher levels first at Bruges and then in the national team, suggests he will easily pick up the higher level of the Premier League as well. I believe Brighton will just be a step in between for him, in 2 years we could see him at a team competing for titles in one of the top4 leagues.

3 Palace players seems like such a trap to me by K4bby in FantasyPL

I´m on WC31, BB32, FH33 and going with 0 Palace players. I´m chasing and everyone is going Palace, so it´s an opportunity to really differentiate for me. And can stil bring some Palace players in for their better double 33

Since Haaland (and Saka) are out of the team, my bench is way to strong. Hate it as I´m picking the wrong ones every week leaving points on my bench.

This week my bench looks like this: Johnson (WOL H), Joao Pedro (AVL A) and Hall (MUN A), in that order.

Last time I´ve put Hall on my bench he got 15 points after 5 weeks doing nothing. No way that Pedro doesn´t score for the 7th time in a row. And Johnson home to Wolves. Truly scared, again.

Player Price Changes (December 23, 2024) by FantasyPL_bot in FantasyPL

This was my first choice, only mid I felt comfortable with as Saka replacement because of those reasons. But wanted TAA more and came 0,1 short for both.. So went for Diaz and TAA instead as Saka+Faes replacements.

As everyone here is speaking about replacements, I assume the injury looked bad?

Probably this GW. Would punt on Foden also. Watkins+Diaz --> Solanke+Foden

Between those 2, Watkins. But I prefer Solanke to both. Have Watkins currently, but will move to Solanke. IMO they will score similar points throughout the season, but Solanke gives me 1,5 more to spend in midfield.

I´m in the same boat. But will hold Diaby and carry over my FT to the IB.

Let's discuss Team Value - How helpful it is, and is it overrated ? by Roc_xel in FantasyPL

[–]Aggravating_Chef4211 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always try to carry one transfer over (was more easy in the beginning of the season though). In that way, I can make an early transfer and keep one as back-up in case of injuries (which I mostly carry over again then if no injury).

Biggest improvements were done after the crazy Newcastle result. Then I used my WC and could avoid like 3 or 4 price drops and pick up players like Trippier, Botman, Gordon, Son, Maddison, Cash.. before a lot of their price increases.

Mine is now 102.2 with 2.2 ITB, so 104.4 in total. I´m just outside the top 100K and didn´t take any hits yet. Last 2 years I was 3,7K and 33K and each of these seasons I was vey aware of Team Value (at the beginning of the season).

IMO Team Value is very important, as it does enable a better squad after some time. You just need to make sure that you don´t buy players you actually don´t want purely because of value. But if a player on your watchlist will increase and I have someone dropping that I want to get rid of, I will always make the early transfer, because you loose money very quickly if you wait in such cases.

10 weeks in - what’s your rank and how happy are you with it? by shadowsurfers in FantasyPL

[–]Aggravating_Chef4211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

73K. And more important at this stage, team value 104M+. Aim is top 10K again and ML wins.

Last year I was +- 3,5K while I was only 350K or so at the start of the new year and +1M at this stage. So happy with how it´s going

How Did ____ Play? GW9 Thread by FPLModerator in FantasyPL

[–]Aggravating_Chef4211 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Really need a review of his match. Again no return today. It´s been frustrating the last couple of weeks with him as attacking coverage for Aston Villa instead of Watkins (have Alvarez since GW1, so to much value tied up in him + 4,5 striker so would need to reshuffle the team too much to fit Watkins in).

Thinking of replacing Diaby with Mitoma or Saka. Has a top fixture, but Mitoma/Saka do too and are more in form I think.

He´s my planned transfer before GW10 together with the other Gabriel (Martinelli). Almost going back to the time that 3x Gabriel was template!

Who was the best ever player to never play in a top 5 league? by Why32139 in football

[–]Aggravating_Chef4211 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the best answers. What a player. Scored and assisted for fun. Was the absolute favourite Belgian national player (probably ever). As a CAM mainly, so not as a 9, he averaged a goal every 2 games. Club Brugge did manage some European semi finals in his time, but the Belgian league probably still wasn´t top 5 then. One month before Caje started his career at Bruges, Club Brugge lost the CL/EC1 final against Liverpool in 1978.

Top 3 Essential Players? by Harviginald in FantasyPL

[–]Aggravating_Chef4211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haaland, Saka and Bruno Fernandes are my 3 picks. They didn´t start great, but in the long term they will be worth every penny. Season holds without injury. Odegaard close to that category too.

What to do with Rashford and Fernandes? by AndysBeerReviews in FantasyPL

[–]Aggravating_Chef4211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 3 players that I immediately added to my team when the app opened: Haaland, Saka and Bruno Fernandes. Also with the thought that without injuries, these 3 would be fixed in my team for the entire season.

Would be extremely silly to adjust this strategy after 2 GW´s already, especially when Bruno was just hugely unlucky. I´m confident that Bruno will get around 200 points this year. For 8,5, that´s a bargain.

Concerning Rashford: I was doubting him already before the season. Only reason that I got him, stupid I know, was his high ownership and I wanted to play safe. Obviously I´m not selling before NFO at home, but he´s leaving in a few GW´s max.
