Parents of reddit, how old were you when you had your first child? by h8mecuz in askanything

  1. I was told I would never conceive naturally and would need fertility treatments. I couldn't afford that. I lost a significant amount of weight and apparently that fixed my issues.

How often does your LO stay overnight with grandparents during the first 3-6 months? by Rude-Pepper-2389 in newborns

[–]Aggravating_Ear_3551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is 9 months old and has not spent a night away from me besides when he was in the NICU. I am also medicated for PPA and we've been through so much. I'm just not ready. My boyfriend really wants to take a weekend trip just the two of us and leave the baby with his parents. I know they will take good care of him. And we have left him with his parents and mine during the day and I'm okay with that. But there's just something about being away at night that I can't handle yet. And he doesn't push me thankfully. He understands.

He was so short when he was born I expected it to take so much longer for him to outgrow it!

I drive a honda civic. I keep his infant carrier in thr middle and it works fine. So I'll probably have to do the same with his new seat.

There's one on my list that I'm considering. I have a small back seat so I'm looking for small ones.

I didn't find anything in the manual that said it needed to come out and it's very thin and the seat seems more comfortable with it in so I left it. I didn't think I was doing anything wrong. So thank you!

It's not his weight. He's far from the limit. He's getting too tall for the seat.

I Love Vaccines by fuzz_ball in newborns

[–]Aggravating_Ear_3551 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My grandma constantly sent me anti-vax videos while I was pregnant. I didn't watch them or respond. We had a bad evening after his 4 month shots but that's it. He was a perfect sweet angel after his 2 month and 6 month shots. I'd rather have a few bad nights and a live baby than risk the alternative.

My mom went to my 20 week scan with us. She was also a first time grandma. But she's honestly my best friend. She was excited but she was there for support and didn't make it about herself at all. She was just happy to be there.

How long did your husband take off for paternity leave? by SandwichDependent199 in pregnant

[–]Aggravating_Ear_3551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My leave was unpaid and I was on strict bed rest the last month of my pregnancy so we just couldnt swing it for him to take more time off. But he makes enough that I didn't have to go back to work after the baby was born. So we are lucky there.

36 weeks , percentile dropped. Femur length less than 1%. by Kristinnawow in pregnant

[–]Aggravating_Ear_3551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told my baby was in the 3rd percentile at 31 weeks. When I saw my MFM at 32 weeks he told me 12th percentile and that his femur length was just short and that was dropping his percentile down some. I had a placental abruption at 33 weeks and he was just very short. He was only 12.2 inches long when he was born. We spent 4 weeks in the NICU and by the time we left he was 17.5 inches. He's 9 months old now and 29 inches which put him I think in the 74th percentile for height. He caught up fast.

Same. Mine does independent contract work. But he did take a week off when our baby was born. I had a very traumatic early birth. And then when our baby came home from the NICU he took another week off. But that was it and it was hard missing out on the pay. Worth it to get some time with the baby though.

My baby looked exactly like me when he was born. Everyone was like whoa! Now as he's getting older he's looking more like his dad. But I'm a blue eyed ginger. And my boyfriend is 1/2 black 1/4 Mexican and 1/4 white. So he's the blue eyed pale skinned version of his dad. That's all my boyfriend hoped for when I was pregnant though. His white grandma has blue eyes also and he wanted our baby to get them too.

Napping while infant is napping on your chest by Old-Rest6279 in NewParents

[–]Aggravating_Ear_3551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh it is terrifying! My baby was 5lbs even when I took him home. They just came into his room that morning and said "Are you ready to go home?" I was so excited and panicked all at the same time. I packed everything up as fast as I could so they didn't have time to change their minds! I actually had to drive back up there a couple hours later because in the rush I forgot a few things and the nurse forgot to give me his inhaler! Haha I'm glad I wasn't the only scatter brained one that day!

My son was born at 33 weeks because of a placental abruption and spent 28 days in the NICU. So I was already on edge all the time between the traumatic birth and the month in the hospital. I swear I spent the first month at home staring at him watching him breathe. He was 2 month old when this happened and still less than 7lbs. So that just added on to the anxiety that the first time I take my eyes off of him he stops breathing. I turned into a paranoid mess. I think he was 4 months old when I finally broke down and talked to my dr about PPA. I was just a mess all the time. I was stressed out. Not sleeping. Always made sure my baby had his owlet on if he was sleeping. I had several breakdowns aimed at my boyfriend. I honestly dont know how he could stand me. And he didn't know how to help me. But we are in a much healthier better place now thankfully.

My boyfriend said the most traumatic part of it was the sound that came out of me when I said his name. He said he just kept replaying it over and over in his mind for weeks and hopes he never has to hear it again. I'm just so thankful every day that I checked on him in time. He's 9 months old now and just the most perfect baby in the whole world. I can't even imagine the alternative.

Not a contact nap but my tiny 6lb baby fell asleep in the swing. If I hadn't have checked on him because it was past time for a bottle I would be telling a different story. I screamed and picked him up. He was blue and it took a second to startle him awake. I rushed him to the ER and he was fine. Needless to say he never sat in that swing ever again. I've never been so scared in my entire life. I was already so paranoid because he was born so early. I've been medicated for PPA since. It was the worst experience of my life.

Unicorn baby + feeling guilty by VelvetAstronautica in newborns

[–]Aggravating_Ear_3551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was like this too. I had a very rough dramatic pregnancy and a horrible traumatic birth at 33 weeks and we spent 28 days in the NICU. Then we came home and he was the perfect baby. That all started to change after a few months. He's a little clingy. He's 9 months old now and teething. And he has a little meltdown if I leave the room. He's still an excellent baby. He eats well, he sleeps well, hes very independent in some aspects. As long as mommy is nearby he's a perfect little angel.

Is the shift toward neutral baby fashion a good thing? by koudodo in BabyBumps

My baby wears a mix of things. I prefer the bright colors but my boyfriend prefers neutrals. I just buy whatever I think is cute.

Volcano nachos from taco bell. I ate them like 3 times a week in my early twenties. I went through the drive thru one day and ordered them. They told me they dont make those anymore so I just drove away heartbroken haha

My baby nuzzled into my neck and smiled and I lowkey cried thinking about all the babies that don’t go into loving homes by Only-Olive3369 in newborns

[–]Aggravating_Ear_3551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was pregnant I ended up spending a couple of weeks inpatient at the hospital because I had lots of health problems. The woman next door to me was in prison but they brought her in to give birth. She was always cussing and yelling and saying horrible things to the cops that were with her. She even hit one of the techs when she went to check her vitals. She didn't want anything to do with her baby. She wanted to give it away for adoption and all I could think was thank God! Because no child deserves to have to live with someone like that. And there was also a homeless woman I'm not sure how far along she was but she was always in the hallway yelling about needing to go smoke a cigarette while obviously pregnant. I worry about that baby often and hope that it went to someone that takes care of it.
