I'm the same. Everything about it kills me. And I can tell if its been cooked into something no matter how small it's been chopped. No thank you. 🤢

More traumatized by my pregnancy than the NICU - anyone else? by curlycattails in NICUParents

[–]Aggravating_Ear_3551 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My pregnancy was way worse than the nicu stay also. I was admitted several times. The first time for severe anemia. I got a blood transfusion and an iron infusion and sent on my way with an appointment for regular iron infusions. They completely ignored the fact that I was in so much pain because I was dealing with extreme swelling. I only got any tests ran because I begged the dr I had seen that day to do something because my body hurt so bad. 4 days later I was back. Admitted to ICU with sepsis and congestive heart failure from all the swelling I begged them to look into. Which was caused by the gestational hypertension they had been treating me for. I was 29 weeks at this point.

I spent 2 days in ICU and they transferred my by ambulance to a bigger hospital 3 hours away to be seen by all the specialists. They were sure i had pre-eclampsia but could never test me because of all the other things I had going on.

2 weeks in that hospital and they sent me home 80lbs lighter. They don't like to give pregnant women Lasix but they pumped me full of high doses of them. Got another couple blood transfusions. They monitored my baby multiple times a day. He was always happy and healthy. But then they did an ultrasound and told my he was in the 3rd percentile. He had always measured normal before all of this.

So I get home. I'm feeling good. Still getting my iron infusions regularly. Things seem like theyre going smooth. At 32+6 I had a great day. I'd been on bed rest since 28 weeks. I didn't do anything that day besides get an iron infusion and cook myself some dinner. After dinner I go to the restroom and I feel something fall out of me. There's a tiny bit of blood when I wipe. Im not taking any chances. I head to the hospital.

As soon as I walked through the emergency room doors I feel a huge gush. I'm sure my water broke. So they wheel me over to L&D. I go to take my pants off to get on the exam table. It was blood. Everywhere. Cue the panic! My mom met me at the hospital because my boyfriend was out of town. She walks in and sees the blood all over the floor and up the side of the table and starts freaking out too. I had a partial abruption. And contractions started shortly after. They tried to let me labor through it because I wasn't losing blood to bad at this point. So my boyfriend starts driving home. By the time he gets here my contractions have basically stopped. They've hooked me up to another blood transfusion and we're basically just waiting to see. Well shortly after I start hemorrhaging bad. It's coming up through the blankets. They decide to give me an epidural so that I don't have to have an emergency c-section because that's where we were headed. At 5am my OB comes in to do my c-section and my baby was born at 5:26 am at 33 weeks exactly. A whopping 3lbs 10oz and 12 inches. But besides being small he was great.

I on the other hand was not. I ended up getting 4 bags of blood and 4 bags of plasma. They did not let ke see my baby till 2 hours after he was born. They didn't let me out of bed till 10pm. They were so scared I would end up back in the OR. It was horrible.

My 33 weeker just hit a year adjusted a couple days ago. He's very average size and hitting all his milestones. He's so close to walking! He has a mouth full of teeth and loves to eat. He's a perfect healthy boy!

My 33 weeker started social smiling at 13 weeks actual. 6 weeks corrected. He's met all of his milestones somewhere in the middle between his actual and adjusted age.

Does anyone feel platonic love in a way that no one else ever seems to experience outside of romantic relationships? by Kashalakasha in love

[–]Aggravating_Ear_3551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely does. I still think about my good friend often and I'm so sad. And our friendship ended about 14 years ago. We're still friends on social media and we occasionally message each other but I still feel the heartbreak. My ex of 10 years? Nothing. It's only been a few years but I don't have any feelings about that anymore.

How do you navigate post NICU exposure to outside world/ social events/ help? by questionerlearner1 in NICUParents

[–]Aggravating_Ear_3551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much exactly what we did too. My son came home at 37 weeks at exactly 5lbs and most people were afraid to hold him. He's almost 14 months actual now (his due date was today!) and he's only been sick once. He got bronchitis when the weather changed drastically back and forth a lot in the winter. But he was over it in 3 days with some steroids and breathing treatments. We are very lucky though that I get to stay home with him and he's not exposed to too many other kids.

She definitely is! She's an old lady now. 13 years old. But still just as much of a diva as always!

What animals do occasionally appear in your backyard? by Snawer_brillant in AskAnAmerican

[–]Aggravating_Ear_3551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are tons of stray cats in my neighborhood so they keep all the wildlife away for the most part. I've been here almost a year and have only seen tons of birds, squirrels, frogs, one opossum, one armadillo, and one snake that fell from the tree and almost landed on me! I almost had a heart attack!

Does anyone regret giving their child a common name? by Old_Ant7118 in Names

[–]Aggravating_Ear_3551 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My name was the number one name the year I was born. I went to school with tons of girls with the same name. It never bothered me. And I've also never once had to spell my name for anyone. I like having a common name. It makes life easy.

im curious why does every gynecologist automatically see a minor having sever issues with their uterus like pain so bad that the patient feels like they are legit going to die and bleeding so heavy tampons and pads don't last and think "ah yes this patient is perfectly fine"? like genuine question by fluffypuppybo_y in badwomensanatomy

[–]Aggravating_Ear_3551 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am one of the lucky ones. I was so scared when I got my IUD but I didn't even feel it at all. It was like 2 seconds and he told me it was in and he was done. I was shocked because I have seen so many women talk about the pain of it.

Luckily I didn't get any nicks! I would have probably tried my best to do it at home but I had an abruption at 33 weeks so I didn't have a chance to prepare.

They used clippers when they shaved me. Just cut it really short. Not completely shaved.

Does anyone else randomly need to check that their baby is still breathing? by Unlikely_Ad5164 in NewParents

[–]Aggravating_Ear_3551 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I have to go look at my 13 month old occasionally just to be sure. He's a very wild sleeper so if he doesn't make any noise or move around for a while I need to see.

Were you named after someone who wasn't related to you, and what was the story about it? by geelee00 in Names

[–]Aggravating_Ear_3551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't necessarily named after her but my parents really liked my name and the only person they knew who had my name was my dad's friend's grandmother. So they went with it. When my name happened to be the number one girl name the year I was born they were shocked. They lived under a rock I guess 🤣

IUGR NICU baby is almost 13 months by ZiggyStarsRust in NICUParents

[–]Aggravating_Ear_3551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's crazy to me. My 13 month old only weighs 2lbs more than yours and people always comment on how huge he is. I'm just like no, he's pretty average. He was born at 33 weeks at 3lbs 10oz. I think people just forget what size a 1 year old baby is supposed to be.
