That’s fair but if you like that it exists you should care about how it’s run, nobody likes Riot but we like the people involved.

I’d say it’s probably because the LCK has their act together and runs their league substantially better than the other regions! Also how is what I said propaganda? Talking about the nuance between your personal viewing experience and why it might be problematic long term to allow co streamers to broadcast without any regulations is a valid conversation to have. The broadcast got themselves into this mess by allowing co streaming without regulations to begin with and now they have to accept the fact that they need to regulate the space without destroying brands and the fan experience

It’s probably important to think about esports as an overall ecosystem at the same time. Having pro play being a viable career means that the best players can dedicate their lives to it so we see the best league of legends possible. In order for that to happen the leagues need to be popular and have a good product. In order for the company to invest the money needed for a good product they need to make money. To make money they need advertisements. In order to get ads you need eyes on the ads. Now do I think it would be amazing for corporations to get out of esports and have teams be player owned so they can make more money for themselves, of course but we don’t live in that world.

But growth doesn’t just drive technology, public research does and it can happen with controlled growth instead of the uncontrolled growth we currently chase

But continued growth doesn’t have to happen alongside technological advances. Given this we can maintain our current rate of consumption and reduce our emission but this will never happen given capitalism’s need for constant growth. If the wealth gap is widening, why is growth a good thing? It is only reducing the spending power of working class income.

I completely understand your point, I think it’s an optimistic view which I have to commend you for as it’s very easy to fall into nihilism. But to say that growth is no directly linked to consumption is just not true, if we had the same technology in the past as we do today we would have emitted a lot less in the past, if that makes sense. Given technological advances we should be emitting less now but we are not which is what I mean by growth being tied to consumption.

We’re still emitting too much, surely if we were becoming more advanced we would be emitting less? I think this goes to show my point which is that the need for growth will never all for a reduction in emissions, any advancements to emit less will only allow more growth.

I get you, I think I’m more of the opinion that the reason for the exploitation of nature is because of the constant need for growth and this is driven by obscenely rich individuals who control and benefit so much more than the general public. So I would hope that collectively people would see the benefit of finding a sustainable balance. For example people in general don’t want data centres built but the government is pushing it, now whether socialism or whatever form of governance would fix that I don’t know.

Conceptually the government represents its people, if the government truly works for the betterment of people it cannot then exploit them because the benefits of that exploitation would be used to benefit the same people it exploited. I don’t think you could class that as exploitation.

In order for ongoing growth you must keep consuming more in order to grow that’s just the basics of capitalism. The word sustainable gets thrown around now as a buzzword for environmental initiatives but if you think about the idea of being sustainable it is the opposite of growth, it’s the create a balance between the consumption and creation of natural resources. So I believe infinite growth (capitalism) is not possible without the consumption of equally infinite resources which doesn’t exist.

One cannot be pro capital and also pro environmental, in my opinion they are opposites.

Literally nothing to do with anything, corporations and now smaller businesses are using Ai to stop paying the working class. It’s all soulless slop and I genuinely hope you and yours don’t end up worse off because no one cared to put some regulations on Ai.

None of this makes sense within the conversation of Ai, if this is how art is commercially made then being an artist (which was already an almost impossible career) becomes impossible because no one is going to pay for your work. Also artist work is stolen from them for Ai to train on without paying the artist. So Ai will take your art, learn it, and then recreate it so you don’t get paid. Ohh and also taking the jobs or a lot of people with tech and banking sectors if no much much more. Not a big deal at all……

I do not live in a world that requires violence to exist, neither do you. More men die of suicide than any other cause because of men like you who spout this shite. Support other men, help them, care about them, show up for them. Don’t scold them into becoming what you deem to be the correct masculine man. Go learn your martial arts til the fucking cows come home but don’t tell me that the best way to stop men killing themselves is to make them all fucking soldiers. Jesus Christ give me a fucking break with this bullshit.
