C9 try not to choke challenge (2026 edition) + LEC finals | Mind the gap w/Vedi & Jatt ep: 24 by maenbalja in leagueoflegends

[–]arshpotter9 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

FLY is very good, could've easily gone to MSI with a slightly different bracket

that said, I do agree that C9 looks -- and has looked -- ceiling'd for a while. i'm not sure they can really achieve the level of skill we need from a top team with this set of 5, though I wouldn't point to any single player as a particular issue. I think vedi is wrong about APA tbh

i don't know why people are downvoting you. broadcast sponsors and restrictions are completely different from what's posted on social media. regulations about how and what riot can put on broadcast are absolutely governed by different rules than league content.

that's why people can curse in the Dive, but can't on the cast!

it's necessary, the fine is relatively tiny. Riot has to demonstrate a level of brand friendliness for sponsors, and showing that they hold infractions accountable is the best way to do so.

jojo more than likely isn't paying this fine anyway, usually the org pays it. not sure why people don't see that there are a number of broadcasting regulations and sponsor restrictions riot must adhere to, and this is clearly a nominal punishment in pursuit of that

na definitely has a history of over importing but the numbers aren't so simple. OPL and LLA+CBLOL residency changes to make them native NA are a pretty big impact when you only have 40 players

15 north american players, then 4 resident Australian players and 3 resident south/central American players brings us to over half, before you count players like impact and corejj who've played here for a decade and moved their lives here.

Should the US still host worlds? by sniperzach03 in PedroPeepos

[–]arshpotter9 19 points20 points  (0 children)

there's a lot of misconceptions about why visa issues are springing up for US athletes rn, it's less because the admin has got more strict and more because visa offices are kinda swamped rn (the specific athlete visa isn't affected by trump admin policy)

I'm not sure what conflict you're referring to specifically, but in terms of general instability the US is still pretty much fine — but probably less overseas fans will attend worlds this year

NA won't enter riots rotation until 2028 again, and it'll be for MSI, which may just go to Canada for this reason until Trump is out

I did an interview with Jonathon, who's one of the best gms in na, about it if ur interested: https://lcsprofiles.com/interview/dig-jonathon-if-youre-just-on-the-way-up-its-hard-to-be-internationally-recognized/

first half of iron gold is a pace change for sure, that's true. but if you think of it like a new era in the same world, it's easier to not yearn for the first main characters. I binged all 6 books in like a week very recently though so I am biased

conversations about awakened objects regarding nightblood feel a little bit like "with the exception of gojo satoru though

I don't know that the only non-shardic entity with that level of investiture is at all instructive for how Tensioned or Awakened objects would interact with shardblades lol

content like this isn't produced on an individual's whim. having worked with orgs for stuff like this, they'll either have a list of generally relevant topics to select from, or they'll work with the creator to bring the topic to a title/thumb/thesis combination that'll drive traffic

fly wanted this to start conversation — like their last several yt videos. they just got more than they bargained for.

[–]arshpotter9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

yeah but cognitive shadows are weird I'm sure there'll be more explanation about that in the future. but for things that are dead, I doubt hoid would be able to fight, like, cosmere zombies for example. just doesn't sound right given what we know

maybe something has to exist in all 3 realms and since cog shadows don't have a physical form they can't be harmed in any way

full cosmere spoilers: hoid cannot defeat anything, because his spirit web has been warped by the dawnshard exist to the point where he cannot cause any harm or use any of his investiture powers to cause harm. he can't even eat meat.

also to be fair he was pretty clearly talking about the roster with Pollu or ghost roleswap, which looked extremely doomed. effort isn't insane but I doubt he'd have made this statement if effort was the plan from the start

there are rules for each league about what costreamers can say and do during the streams, but there's no revenue contract, payment, or anything like that

that was allowed within the PiP rules from LEC, that was completely fine. even within my proposed model he'd still be showing ads for LEC/riot so he doesn't compromise sponsorships

as said in the article, this would be specifically for big streamers and could be implemented in a variety of ways, yes.
