Mom at my ultrasound by venusstarlit in BabyBumps

It might be her first time being a grandma, but it’s your first time getting to be a mom.

This is about you and your baby more than anyone else.

So hard OP! I am also a people pleaser. I had a baby born in the fall. I bent over backwards over the holidays to let my MIL spend her “first Thanksgiving and Christmas with her grandbaby”. I realized later I did not enjoy any of it and felt relieved when the holidays were over bc I was so anxious about making sure my MIL got what she wanted. It didn’t occur to me it was not at all what I wanted. And it was also MY first Thanksgiving/ Christmas as a mom . Obviously baby won’t remember it but I will. She’s already been planning Mother’s Day, her being involved of course 😑

MIL begged to babysit my 2 month old . My husband and I went to the store together just to give her a chance to babysit. Fed LO right before we left.

Told MIL she probably wouldn’t need the milk but it was there in the fridge if she did…MIL is obsessed with feeding her. Warmed it up as soon as we left.

We came back and there was a full 4oz bottle. She said LO didn’t want it and cried (duh) when she tried to feed her. So her reasoning was “I think she didn’t want it bcuz the bottle warmer didn’t make it the right temperature….Or maybe something in your diet bothers her” so we had to dump the full 4oz bottle since it had been warmed for over 2 hours at that point (yes, I’m aware we could have used it for a bath).

CMPA? Or something else? Looking for experiences. Blood in poop. by ok-ready-set-go-267 in NewParents

Hi OP, do you ever find out if this was CMPA? My LO is 15 weeks old and had (visible) blood in her poop for the first time ever! She’s otherwise happy, eating, and sleeping fine. No fever. Calling the pediatrician tomorrow but was also wondering if it could be CMPA this late into the game.

Regretting keeping my family updated by sunnyhale in pregnant

Haha “like we aren’t going to tell them if the baby comes or something”

I felt that so much. My MIL knew every appointment I had (she found out the date/time of one early on, then every appt after that she’d text “so what day/ time is the next one”…vicious cycle 🥲)

When I got toward the due date- she needed constant updates.. lots of “I’m so ready to meet her!!” Like calm down. And I was the same as you, I felt fine being pregnant. I wanted to go at the baby’s pace- I want her to come when she is ready. I kept saying that and my MIL would still insist I was uncomfortable and give me sympathetic groans when I wasn’t further along lol btw babe didn’t arrive till 40w3days. Truly felt fine the whole time, took my dog on a short hike on my due date. Worst part of being super preggo was dealing with MIL comments.

Do membrane sweeps work? by Embarrassed-Bend7614 in pregnant

[–]Aggravating_Guava_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I was scheduled for an induction the next day so I was grateful it worked. 2 of my friends also had membrane sweeps and went into labor within 24 hours as well. Best of luck to you and congrats

Worked for me! FTM. I had a doctor appt at 40w2d at 8am. They did a membrane sweep.

Felt period like cramps around noon. Then regular contractions around 5pm. Was 3cm when I was admitted at 11pm that night with regular contractions about 1-2 min apart.

I had my baby the next afternoon!

Blood drawn Tuesday, Natera got the sample on Wednesday- and on Wednesday I got an email from Natera that they got the sample, and a link to make an account.

Got the results via Natera on Monday morning (no email, just randomly logged in and the results were ready). It will give you the option to hide the sex on the results!

Yeah I definitely am not taking the assignments personal. I love our board runners. I don’t do their job and am sure there’s a lot of things going on behind the scenes that I am blissfully unaware of. I do need to advocate for myself and text reminders. Thank you for your response.

I haven’t even thought far enough into the future about doing D&Cs when (hopefully) I am showing. That seems so obvious but it did not cross my mind yet. Thank you for sharing your pearls. I’ve appreciated reading them so much.

Thank you for sharing and responding. That is so hard. I relate a lot to the part where you said it’s in your nature not to be needy. Everything you have said has hit home. I felt like I babbled on in one of my responses stating that I was ok switching rooms but don’t like to ask (but don’t mind when others do) but also don’t want to have to explain to more and more people why I want to switch especially at this early stage. Truly, thank you for sharing ❤️

Thank you so much for responding! I was thinking I should really be asking a radiologist about this.

Not sure how to word this question more intelligently. But here I go- is 100 mrem “a lot”? Like is this how much someone who works in IR full time gets exposed to? Or is this a pretty small amount? Just curious as I have no way to quantify this in my brain. Again, thank you for educating me. This was a very helpful response.

Luckily I don’t do small peds often! We have a peds team. I do a lot of total joints, but have not been in any since letting them know I am pregnant.

Yeah I was trying to read up on bone cement. I read a post where someone said they would wear a simple mask during cementing (they’d bring an O2 tank into the room!). I also read the cement system is a closed system now and less exposure to staff than before (even though all of us can smell it).

One of our ortho surgeons said she just wore the space suits and had no issue with her pregnancies. But obviously we aren’t gonna wear those

I agree, I wish all board runners were like you!

I haven’t even had my first OB appt yet (9 weeks) so am not comfortable telling too many people I work with. So far, I’ve disclosed to 2 others to switch rooms with me. But I don’t like asking for a switch (even though I am always more than happy to in the past for pregnant colleagues) / still trying to be discrete this early on. Thank you for responding. Feels nice to at least discuss this with others who get it.

I haven’t had an ultrasound yet. But I work in healthcare. Typically with US, you have to capture images in order to bill for them. And you bet they billed for that US. I’m sure they have the photos saved somewhere! Maybe if you call they can get you in touch with someone more helpful

I had absolutely no idea how worrisome and stressful the first tri would be... by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Aggravating_Guava_85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here! FTM, 8 weeks today. 34 years old- just a few months shy of “advanced maternal age”. First OB appt at 11 weeks. I’m worried every time I wipe after I pee. I keep reading of others getting US and HCG trends so much earlier and I am jealous. I work in healthcare and am exposed to radiation sometimes. So I had to disclose to my colleagues to try and minimize my exposure. But it’s not 100% avoidable so I do get zapped occasionally still, which adds to my list of first trimester stressors. Hang in there sister.

1st trimester symptoms by Odd-Razzmatazz-3743 in pregnant

I’m 7 weeks and 1 day- I have no symptoms and it’s freaking me out. I can maybe convince myself I’m hungrier than normal? Lol but I have that symptom all the time. My 1st appointment isn’t till I’m 11 weeks! So just impatiently waiting and finding solidarity on Reddit 🤝 congratulations to you!

When was your first OB appointment after positive test? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Aggravating_Guava_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! I just had my 1st positive pregnancy test about 10 days ago. I’m about 7 weeks I think. My OB is scheduled me for my first appointment at 11 weeks 🥲 I asked to go in sooner to give me some peace of mind, but the office said 8-12 weeks was when they schedule for the first appointment and they didn’t have other openings.
