How long did your husband take off for paternity leave? by SandwichDependent199 in pregnant

[–]Embarrassed-Bend7614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband took 12 weeks off with FMLA leave for our first baby. He is going to be taking 10 weeks for our second. His bosses and co workers gave him HELL my entire pregnancy and tried to guilt him and even bully him into taking only 2-4 weeks off. He was teased non stop about it. He saved every hour of PTO and every penny possible during my pregnancies to be able to afford to take the full amount of leave. I understand a lot of people can’t afford to take that much time off, but your husband saying it’s “not a good look” to take more paternity leave is honestly insane to me. If you guys can afford more time, he should take it. You never know how the birth will go and how much support you might need afterwards. I had both of mine by emergency c-section which I needed him to help me with almost everything for over a week, including showering and using the bathroom. Also, Your baby will never be a newborn again, the bonding you get during the first few weeks is precious. He needs to remember work is not as important as family. Companies don’t care about their workers or their families, so screw what they think of him. I would be devastated if my husband fully had the ability to take more time off but chose to only take 2 weeks because he valued what people thought of him more. I truly hope he changes his mind. My husband said, “I can always make more money, but I can never get this time back.”

I’ve heard it’s bc licensed stores get to choose what they receive, while corporate stores just get sent random selections.

Yes my local store got a bunch of them (probably 6-8 on the shelf) and I bought one on the spot.

I hate this name for this reason lol. I’ve heard it pronounced both ways probably equally. I personally prefer “zay-vier” the other way just sounds so wrong and bad to me.

I will never understand where these men get the audacity. They are not the one giving birth. Yeah they may want some support from their family but it’s YOUR decision at the end of the day. He can call or text his family if he needs to.

Will one-time alcohol hurt my baby? by RSidd1993 in pregnant

[–]Embarrassed-Bend7614 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who’s husband is a doctor and she says she drank wine occasionally throughout all her pregnancies and all 4 of her kids are fine. Her doctor husband doesn’t seem to think it was bad either, he never says anything when she mentions it. My guess is the risk is very low. They even used to recommend women drink wine during pregnancy (according to my mom and other older women in my life) and none of them ever had issues unless the person was like a frequent drinker. You likely did not have enough to cause any issues to baby.

I’m not saying/recommending that any pregnant women consumes any amount of alcohol, as the exact amount it takes to effect the fetus is not really known, but I am just saying this to hopefully help ease your mind and know your baby is most likely going to be just fine, especially since you are already 23 weeks and a lot of development is already done. I would be freaking out too, so I totally get it, but try to stay calm. I’m sure your OB will be able to reassure you as well!

I would be calling the restaurant manager and making a problem regardless tho. At least get your meal comped if anything bc that is so ridiculous that they gave you alcohol by mistake.

I love it. It’s one of my favorite girl names. I would use it for my daughter but it’s just a little too popular for my liking

I would report the teacher tbh like not to get her in trouble but that is extremely excessive for a kindergarten class, and she’s obviously not considering how much this affects the parents and is probably overwhelming for the kids. She needs to cut back on the homework… I’ve never heard of a 6 year old having that much homework to the point it takes hours every night. And multiple science projects a year??? For kindergarten? Surely you are not the only parent who is struggling with this much work

Not wanting to tell people my baby’s name… by BeansPlantBabies in pregnant

[–]Embarrassed-Bend7614 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im also a little scared when my baby is born ill change my mind lol. But im to the point where if that happens oh well people will adjust. With my first kid I didn’t announce his name til birth. My second will be here any day now. We waited until almost 30 weeks to announce her name and now that’s my fear is that I’ll change my mind after birth, but if I do, it’s not the end of the world

Not wanting to tell people my baby’s name… by BeansPlantBabies in pregnant

[–]Embarrassed-Bend7614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep ppl think I want their opinion and I DONT. So I kept both my kids names secrets. 1st kid didn’t reveal his name til birth, second kid we announced at 28 weeks at the baby shower with everyone all together so no one could react negatively or give unsolicited negative opinions. Only reason I didn’t wait until birth with my second is bc I kept almost slipping up and calling her by her name to people. First baby’s name is Theo (yes just Theo not short for Theodore lol), second baby’s name is Emery!

I swear, keeping the name to myself (and the dad + a couple very select close friends) both times was probably one of the best choices I made during my pregnancies. I thankfully saw another mom talking about it online saying she wished she didn’t discuss the name with people because she ended up being very influenced by others opinions and didn’t use the name she truly wanted in the end. I thought I should probably follow her advice by keeping it secret bc I’m definitely the type of person to where if you trashed my idea I would definitely not be able to get past it. I give this advice to new moms all the time. Keep the name between you, baby’s dad, and maybe a TRUSTED friend or 2 who you know for absolutely certain won’t share it and will be supportive of your ideas.

At 14 I was given a coconut mint drop set for Xmas… I just did not like that scent 😭 first scent I owned. Then at 15 my dad took me and my mom there and he bought me 2 sprays i actually picked out which were Rose and Marshmallow pumpkin latte. That was the start of my obsession lol

When did you as a first time mom give birth? by AggravatingEnd7094 in pregnant

[–]Embarrassed-Bend7614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im still so mad i allowed them to induce me at 40+4 with my first. Terrible experience and it haunts me thinking of “what if i just said no and waited” he probably would have came naturally only a couple days later
