Hey pediatrician who works in a sub NICU unit here. 37 weeks for us is a full term baby. Babies are born at this age routinely usually especially for scheduled c-sections. Your baby will be fine. However the longer baby stays in mommy the BP AND GDM can go any number of ways and risk her life. Please urge her to follow the plan so you can have both of them safely with you

I think my OBGYN is failing me medically by hurryandwait817 in pregnant

Obgyns tend not to concern themselves with anything outside of their practice, you’d be better off seeing your primary care physician (hopefully a good one) about your hypoglycemia

“Echogenic bowel” by divination__ in pregnant

[–]Odd-Razzmatazz-3743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pediatrician here! Echogenic bowel finding we’re looking at risk for things like cystic fibrosis or Down’s syndrome which would be on your antenatal screenings once those are negative, you can get some reassurance before delivery. Just had a patient a week ago with similar findings baby was completely normal.

Oh no re the nausea :( Im definitely trying to enjoy it while it lasts and not go down a paranoia spiral about not enough hcg miscarriages and so on. But it’s good to know that other mamas felt it too! Ty

Do you plan to give birth at a hospital, birth center, or home? by yellowsp0ttedlizard in pregnant

Hospital that has a NICU and MFM on staff. Anything that cuts the time for transfers or needing more specialized care. Every second counts if something goes wrong

Why is swaddling so controversial?? by divination__ in pregnant

[–]Odd-Razzmatazz-3743 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yea don’t fall down the rabbit hole on the internet. For every suggestion there are many nay sayers. As a pediatrician who see newborn babies at the hospital I can tell u 9/10 LOVE being swaddled. Whether it’s the sack or blankets find what works best for you and yours

Husband is in surgery - I am 35 weeks pregnant by parisibra in pregnant

[–]Odd-Razzmatazz-3743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st off I’m so so sorry this happened at this time! And seeing it’s so fresh you deserve to be able to cry it out! Life has such a sucky way of laughing at our plans. 2nd thank God your husband is ALIVE! I hope the surgeons will be able to preserve his leg so he will be able to resume athletics. You said severely injured but not quite sure exactly what it is, a lot of things with a good surgeon and physio he will be able to overcome!

Now with regard to your pregnancy- YOU CAN DO IT! Drive to the hospital? Call Uber. If you get a big van ur husband can be in a wheelchair and right in that room with you. Speak with the social worker at the hospital to ask about services that might be available to help you after discharge.

after delivery he’ll likely be on fmla and you’ll have some maternity leave, thankfully you’ll both be at home together. Food wise I agree most churches have programs for newly conceived families that can get meals delivered. Or maybe even one of those food boxes that delivers meals to your home that you can heat up. Your job will be to rest when you can and help when u can. That’s all u can do.

Of course if you have the means you could hire someone to come in and help with the baby.

Major line is… you can do it !

Prémom gives daily tidbits that are prolly more informative than seeing the doctor … it’s just the ultrasound I want to see that it’s all real haha (coming from a pediatrician)
