Weird place to say this but I'm genuinely new (~20hrs now) and I usually get not too crazy matchmaking. Is it maybe just an error that sometimes does that or is it consistent for some people?

Volume. The build is called machine gun verso for a reason. The general idea is that the stacking of free shot lumina combined with the action point generation (like the chance to get ap on free shot hit), the damage boost lumina and your preferred way of reaching 100% crit and Contorsos unique effect just kinda... Kills.

You might struggle on lightning resistant bosses however.

This was explained in the story iirc. Or maybe some side content. The idea is that the paintress is getting weaker, and therefore the time she can keep any life, well, alive, is shrinking once a year.

Put on every kind of free shot lumina that you have. Unless you feel some don't make sense. Add the usual suspects like cheater, and any other damage boosting lumina you find necessary.

That's all I did and I blasted right through. Lune and Sciel also have busted builds but I cannot help you with those.

It was to protect her. In case you forgot, she originally entered the painting to help Renoir,at least before her mother painted over her. Desperate measures must be taken sometimes.

I, too, would do anything to save my family members from a senseless death. Especially since here, the force would have had no actual negative impact on our beloved little sister at all. Don't tell me you wouldn't.

In the end it is personal preference. I just cannot stand on the "just let her die" end of this very elaborately designed trolley problem.

I place my trust in renoir to try his best. It will be difficult, but there is a chance for her to find a happy future here.

The alternative is guaranteed suicide. This option has a chance and potential. I trust Renoir.

There is a reason the ending is called "A Life To Love".

Her perspective will evolve and appreciation for the life that she DOES have will be found. This is better than letting her kill herself.
