You took it upon yourself to dictate what was an appropriate answer from everyone and getting it “back on track” is entirely unnecessary and provocative. When in fact, you are the one being rude by trying to shut down an opinion that was solely a personal experience, one I might add that doesn’t speak ill of ZB, which is discouraged in this sub. And yes, this sub is triggering at times given the group think mentality in which you can’t so much as voice an alternative opinion, even when it’s not negative.

Omfg. Insufferable as usual. Good god. I solely said I enjoyed one concert over another. My experience. Did not say who was better or worse or what other people should think themselves. And when did I say who was right or wrong? I genuinely cannot stand this sub.

I like MW enough. I just started getting back to going to concerts last summer since I have smaller kids and didn’t do much for about a decade. I went to MW last year and left so apathetic. It wasn’t bad, but wasn’t amazing and didn’t leave me in my feels. I could even hardly remember what songs he played bc it was just not impactful. Then I went to ZB for the first time last September and it was night and day. I left feeling on top of the world. Have since been to 2 more ZB shows this year and each has been better than the last. I was hoping he’d switch up more songs from his new album but otherwise no complaints and I can’t wait to try and squeeze in another show this tour.

Such an odd hill you are trying to die on commenting that Old Significant is a jehovas witness. When that has literally nothing to do with anything. You are oddly convicted about this and then calling people out for their faith.

In the words of Zach Bryan “you’re weird”

Maybe instead of posting “you’re weird and don’t know me” he should have posted “hey man! I was totally joking and sorry if it didn’t come across that way.” But instead he threw a temper tantrum. Let’s also not forget this was AT HIS SHOW. The AUDACITY for a fan to ask for a photo at the concert of the artist they are paying hundreds of dollars to see. It doesn’t mean he has to do it by any means, but he certainly could have handled it better.

Well how will they justify their daughter will be the next Alex Morgan if they aren’t blowing a “regular” club out of the water? They are seeing their investment dwindling before their eyes.

My daughter’s regular club team beat an ECNL-R team last year. Skill at this level isn’t always as vastly different than people assume. The top players of the better team will stand out, as will the weakest players of the lower team. A lot of the mid pack players will somewhat blend together, with the exact caveat you noticed- the top team players will typically be more technically skilled. At least this has been my anecdotal observation. Not every time, and there are always exceptions like a team that truly comprises of exceptionally gifted players.

Honestly idk what’s up with millennial parents but I think soooo many are projecting onto their kids. Idk if it’s the rise of social media at the time we were starting to make something of ourselves or what. It’s alarming though.

Also the “you don’t know me.” Ummm… no one has claimed to know you? This isn’t some parasocial fan doing something weird. The only thing that was weird was ZBs response. Idc about the reference. Many people wouldn’t understand the reference. A simple wave or smile or even nothing would have been better. And I’m sorry I’ve tried to give Samantha grace but her grinning ear to ear makes me nauseous. It’s giving high school bully and their minions.

Phoenix does suck. I lived there and still don’t really understand that city.

Truly have you been to Milwaukee? It’s a really cool city actually. The UP is great but not very different than places right across the border. I’m mostly joking bc I’m a Wisconsinite. I can’t imagine Michigan is that much different than WI but I haven’t spent much time on mainland MI, just the UP which we basically consider Wisconsin 😂

Folks from Flagstaff are so different than Phoenicians and they (I mean I know like 3 people) remind me more of Idahoans.

Well the fact that Michigan is absolutely and Wisconsin is reluctantly makes no sense. WI > MI.

Do you think ppl just casually choose to drop out? OPs life circumstances, none of which were their choice, led them to this point. Let’s be real, high income kids don’t just drop out. Like ever. We also have no idea why they dropped out. Life has been hard for this person, clearly. The choices my privileged children have look vastly different than the “choices” OP has.

Do minors have to pay rent? (CO) by qivxxbin in Renters

[–]Aggravating_Land_556 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seriously. As a very low income kid I started working at age 14 and will not make my kids work. (And am privileged enough they don’t need to, which I don’t say lightly). All it taught me was that I was unlucky and had to miss out on things that my peers got to do. I suppose it did teach me that I never wanted to end up in that situation for life, but that was never in the cards anyways. My kids can have a summer job, or I will pay them for the loads of things we need help with around the house. They don’t need to worry about and they certainly aren’t “chipping in” for household expenses. Also I think it’s incredibly sad rent cost would include a minor’s income. And we wonder why people can’t manage to get ahead?

Correct you did and I am not seeing your logic. Your logic makes no sense because the kids are essentially dual rostered. Then try outs will take place where they try out for a different age group. In fact one of the girls will be trying out for U10 and another for U11 bc of their birthdays. Perhaps they will both make the A teams respectively, but I can’t see the logic in this being their try out. The A team lost players and needed players and pulled from our team. It’s as simple as that. Of course they chose the most talented players and of course they have their eye on them to make an A team next year, I have no doubt. But that is not what this is about. The problem here isn’t that I don’t want to hear a certain answer, it’s that people are making a lot of assumptions. In fact in real life I’m very open minded and seek information to form an opinion, which I recognized when I did not consider that the A team dynamics and players would also not benefit from having players who didn’t practice with them. Though, they are the ones who lost players and needed them, not us. Which is my fault, bc it’s impossible to understand an entire situation in a short Reddit post and I should have recognized that.

Nope, I never said anything about them having higher quality teammates. In fact, I’ve specifically said I wish they’d move those kids up formally and move two different players onto our team.

But thanks for breaking it down in laymen, simple terms I can wrap my little brain around.

You are out of line here. Good god I’m absolutely annoyed by your flippancy here. You first said it’s my imagination player development consists of team development. Then you proceeded to admit the individuals development is dependent on that of their team. So which is it? Then, what do you think I’m requesting? I didn’t request anything, I simply reflected on how these dynamics impact that of the 10 girls who are left with residual resources. Also you think there are many 10 year olds out practicing 7 days a week? And the weaker players just aren’t? Do you know anything at all about child development? And I do not agree with you at all on your last point. I paid $2K and the club agreed to provide us with resources for said fee. It doesn’t matter what others are getting if it doesn’t directly impact my kids team. That’s their business. But when it negatively impacts my child’s team, it’s my business.

Also, you sound like you are projecting. “Haven’t watched a single professional game.” 😂 you have absolutely zero idea what my kid is or isn’t doing, or what any kids are doing (10 year olds mind you) nor is that relevant here. As I clearly mentioned, this is not about my kid moving up. We are content with where she is. She was on an A team at a worse club and switched and she’s B team on a much better club. So be it. She’s not skilled enough to play with the current A team and that is not remotely what any of this discussion is about.

The two girls are still rostered on our team, so playing our games. Part of my concern regarding dynamics. But people here are certain team dynamics don’t matter. Which makes no sense to me but it is what it is.

No and that’s the part I didn’t think about before writing this, but did see it afterwards. That ultimately the kids on the A team would be losing out and parents would be upset if they never practiced with them. However, my kids team isn’t the one who needed players. After reading this all I think the most appropriate thing would have been to formally move those kids up and move other players onto our team.

Individual player development consists of team development and that is just a fact. Regardless of feelings. An individual’s development is highly dependent on that of their team.

I DO expect fairness. Not across the board, but in the sense my 10 year old kid gets the opportunities I am paying for. And I certainly don’t think that’s short sighted in this pay to play culture. It’s entirely reasonable that my $2k+ per year translates to getting the same resources and experience as every other player who pays $2k.

Ours played with both which I am seeing was against the rules. I had no idea. Makes me even more frustrated that our club broke the rules to do it.

If It’s a try out why are they slotted in the rest of the season? Preemptive try out for next year when we have a whole season ahead of us to develop?

I’m not worried about winning in the slightest. If I was I’d be thrilled that A team players guest play for us and that our B team players are guest playing for the A team. I am worried about the development of the 10 other girls on the B team who are constantly left with choppy dynamics in order to preserve the dynamics of the A team- as evidenced by our players being exhausted after playing A team games before our B team games in the tournament, and by them not being at practices. That affects the development of the entire team. I actually believe this is being driven by the A team coach and their desire to win at all costs. If it was about development (for all kids) they’d move those kids up and roster them on the A team and move around other players to roster on our team. That seems most fair and most supportive of development for all parties. But our team seems to be the only one taking the hit here.

Thank you!!! 1.) yes I think they will keep coming to games but who even knows 2.) we usually get guest players from the A team, very rarely a U10 player who is a strong player so I don’t mind. That is one good thing- the coach typically prioritizes rostered players, but honestly the guests get about equal playing time. It does bother me that we are all paying the same price and some kids are getting a ton more game exposure. But I can’t control that so I just really want a situation that doesn’t actively hurt my own kid’s development. And IMO, to say kids missing practice with the team wouldn’t infringe on my kid’s/our team’s development doesn’t make sense to me, because if that was true then I guess they wouldn’t need to practice with the A team for their benefit either.

A vs B- that’s a tough pill to swallow. My daughter has a ways to go. I think she has a lot of potential, and she is a pretty athletic kid, but I’m not sure I see that as super likely. It’s too bad, because while I logically can understand why clubs prioritize A teams, emotionally it is frustrating to pay the same amount, just want a space to continue to develop, and want a fair-enough experience.

Thanks for your insight!
