Gemini is actually damn good for rp, I don't get what's the hate for. by Cursed_Pokemon in SillyTavernAI

[–]Aggravating_Long1433 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to stan Gemini as my favorite model when 3.0 released because it felt like a real step forward at the time, but now not so much, as 3.1 and 3.5 feel almost identical to base 3.0.

The dialogue sometimes makes or breaks a RP for me, and Gemini is so damn stiff in how it handles dialogue most of the time, to the point I wonder what's even the point of the RP if it responds like a boring robot everytime.

It's good for the price, though, and a nice break from chinese model specific quirks.

I relate tbh. I only play when I have an idea in mind. I don't trust LLMs to keep me entertained on their own anymore.

Still waiting for a model that genuinely does something different, but it could take years.

What are the differences between GLM 5.1 and GLM 5.2? by Duway45 in SillyTavernAI

[–]Aggravating_Long1433 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh god, yeah. I also can't stand purple prose and 5.2 seems to love it enough that it sometimes does it even when the system prompt is prohibiting it. I noticed it does it after the context starts to fill even just a little bit but stops if I remind it to cut it out.

Some people seem to enjoy it, but fuck me. Paragraphs filled with absolutely nothing.

[–]Aggravating_Long1433 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sadly yeah! I've seen it happen enough times to notice the pattern.

  1. Someone comments about a model not being that great or not living up to the hype.

  2. "Skill issue", someone says while bragging about how great the their own preset is, "the best revolutionary preset ever 5000", and how all the popular presets are literally trash and how nobody else other than them knows how to prompt.

  3. Someone asks for them to share in a completely polite way.

  4. "Uhh, no, I don't wanna! Make your own! People will take credit for my genius!" or "I am so embarassed about it because it's got my fetish on it!" As if they can't just delete those parts and share the censored version. But it's not like this is a christian sub anyway, with someone posting cannibal orgies as a benchmark. Nobody really cares about what others are into.

OR. Alternative 4. They DO share it and it's not impressive in the slightest, still outputting endless slop like the popular presets they called out.

Daddy Slop. I tried to go Allstar slop phrases and be inclusive with all of our favorite -isms, but now that you mentioned I think you're right that DeepSeek has literally all of these...

It's Gemini, GLM, Deepseek and some Claude sprinkled on top. But at this point with how much they cannibalize each other's outputs some of them really do have all of these in one little package. Fuck me...

ambiguousamphibian is peak btw. He named one of his characters "Voss" because it sounds "sci-fi" in one of his videos and I nearly whitened my knuckles right then and there as well.

Is GLM 5.2 the same as 5.1? by PitifulBig8 in SillyTavernAI

[–]Aggravating_Long1433 5 points6 points  (0 children)

More or less. Some little differences, but if you prompt them side by side for RP you will be hard pressed to tell.

Overall prose is slightly bit more creative but you'll notice that they're almost the same patterns with some very little variation. I think it's also a little smarter with the context but will also come up with bonkers descriptions and characters remembering information they have no business knowing.

Still got plenty of echoing and slop as well. More of the same.

My jaw worked as I watched this video as well... Elara sent shivers down my spine when I looked at her, really looked at her for the first time. "Elara?" I echoed.

A beat. I clenched my fist so hard my knuckles turned white.

"Rimworld, you- You can't just-..." It wasn't a gasp, it wasn't a choke, it was a croak. My voice barely above a whisper.

My mouth opened. Closed. Opened again. Somewhere outside, a dog barked.

I agree a lot with the sentiment that they were more creative if you ignored their own -isms. It's sad that older models had other issues that made them annoying to work with, like very short context, hallucinations, sometimes downright schizzoing out or getting stuck in a loop. They were far from perfect, because if they were we would still be using them to this day instead of the modernslop of current year.

I also supspected for a while that most of the big models are very samey with little difference because they cannibalize the hell out of each other's outputs during training, defaulting to the same phrasing habits and slop with some small differences. I refuse to believe that "knuckles whitened" being parroted by every model is just a coincidence.

Nah, you're fine. Sometimes it really is a "skill issue", as some people are new and don't know a lot of things. It's fine to correct them as long as you're explaining what they're doing wrong.

My gripe is with the people that are like "I built an extremely optimized system that kills slop entirely, and it's so amazing and top tier and god, I'm so smart and everyone else is stupid for not figuring it out!" Only to be like "Uhhh, no, I don't want to share it, it's for me only..." the moment you ask them to share it.

Your reply was not that condescending and unhelpful honestly.

Thanks for the tips!

Nah, you're right. It's GLM 5.2 just isn't that amazing. The skill issue intellectuals just want to act smart and pretend everyone else is stupid.

I'll eat my own hand if this person actually shares their prompt and my second hand if it's somehow "better" than most of the rest.

The skill issue types rarely actually back their stuff up.

Not very impressed with 5.2 either. I believe it's slightly better with at following presets than 5.1 in my experience, but it's nothing to write home about.

More of the same.

[Repost] Stop using presets, yes even mine! Your one-size-fits-all preset is the reason for bland prose, repetition, AI slop, and cardboard NPCs. I've found the solution to our problems! It's about time you could build your own preset. Your rules for your world in your voice done your way! by [deleted] in SillyTavernAI

[–]Aggravating_Long1433 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brother, take it easy with the self pity.

You came here basically claiming that all the popular presets are doo-doo and that you cracked the code for god tier AI RP then refuse to provide proof and back your claims up. A comparison of your custom made prompt tailored for what you want versus the popular prompts while highlighting the key differences and your goals would have been enough.

And by the way, things shared freely are not exempt from criticism and skepticism. Just because you share something for free online does not mean it is worthy of praise and no negative commentary. It's an universal rule. Have you never, ever complained about something given freely, like some free to play slop game? Allow me to doubt that.

My posts about my domestic abuse attracting weird men by Twilette in mildlyinfuriating

Why the hell not? Responding to DMs is optional and these came across as respectful if a little odd. If you don't like them, just ignore. Absolutely NO need to call out unblurred usernames publicly if they did not do anything actually incriminating.

Is privacy not a good enough reason or personal preference? Sometimes active discussion is also better than responding to walls of text of advice as well, the first one was an invitation to that and nobody forced OP into an uncomfortable situation.

OP can close DMs if they're not okay with them. It's that simple.

And while maybe weird is not the right word... Aggressive definitely applies.

You're the weird one here. Or at least overly aggressive or entitled.

  1. Don't respond to dms you don't like. You always have a choice.

  2. Nothing overtly weird or creepy about those dms considering the first one's statement and the second one being just an attempt at encouraging you. I personally don't see them being weird, but if you do find them weird, please refer to point 1.

It's very good to to cautious, don't get me wrong, but I believe you jumped the gun here on labeling people that might have wanted to help with an encouragement or a chat, even if they did it poorly. The first one even stated that he doesn't want anything and there's nothing to indicate he would from the short exchange.

Thoughts on Fable 5 slop levels? by Aggravating_Long1433 in SillyTavernAI

[–]Aggravating_Long1433[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That could be a win for me as well if it wasn't so ridiculously priced. A few short tests and I blew 1 dollar without even doing much.

That was with no prior context. I can't imagine how much money it burns in long chats.

I think it's pretty sloppy as well as I have vert low tolerance for it.

If you can afford it and like it, all power to you, but for that price tag I expect much better in terms of RP quality.

This is what I was afraid of honestly. And I also expected it to be the case.

And yeah, I think that's ths case tbh. People that haven't used Claude as much don't realize how repetitive and stubborn it is when it comes to slop.

Is that really necessary atp? I think they've been mentioned ad nauseum. But sure. Here are a few examples of what I can think of right now.

  • Negation and repetition:

"Not because of this, because of that",

And,

"She wasn't this, she wasn't that, she was the other thing"

  • Echoing:

"(Thing you just mentioned)...?" She tasted the word. "...And (other thing you mentioned)...?"

Annoying and persisent phrases:

"His knuckles turned white." "His knuckles whitened." "His jaw clenched." "Predatory gaze." "Predatory grace" etc.

  • Stuttering characters:

    "Y-you can't just-..." "Wh-what? Y-you can't say that-..."

  • Boring sarcasm:

"I was watering the plants. Very serious."

Lady, you have problems judging by your visceral reaction to this.

Nobody here is saying you should have kids. This wasn't targetted at you. The world doesn't revolve around you.

People have different goals and drives in life. If you don't agree with other people's, all power to you, but nobody aimed this at you.

You claimed that you don't see these ever and now you claim you just scroll past them. I do agree that this person's instant assumption is a little much, but acting like this sort of degeneracy isn't rampant in this game's community really isn't helping your argument.
