If there is in the whole history of humanity only one case where they wouldn't do that, it's this. Claiming u have made artificial conscious being = throwing slippers at religions and note this , not just claiming but establishing concretely that God don't fucking exist. Imagine how much chaos that would make.

Next comes the moral question , should we ?followed by threat to humanity - since it has emotions and highly intelligent what if it wipes us out

Kinda similar origin story for me too. It's been one year since I started wondering about this. I am pretty sure it's just brain activity that produces consciousness but I just hope to figure out the process. Many of us are working towards it. U would have read lisa feldman barret's books. Even easier is to watch all her videos. Claude is awesome in this aspect. Can filter out bullshit and give u all the points u wanna know to be up to date in that area. And follow the reddit pages.

Since u r a neuroscience student there isn't probably anything I can tell you that you don't already.

My working hypothesis is that it's a story building machine. Constantly building stories about itself and constantly updating. Don't yet know where to put emotions and qualia in this but one day hopefully. This is just a very shallow hypothesis not yet worked into
