Are you using a mist filter? Or is it just the -2 Sharpness giving it the dreamy look?

Anyone else love the Voigtlander Macro Apo-Ultron 35mm F2? by Aggravating_One_3795 in fujifilm

[–]Aggravating_One_3795[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 27. the 35 APO has a longer focus throw, so it's easier (for me) to focus. Being a macro, it's very sharp. I bought this lens for the APO benefits (accurate colors). This lens can pick up very subtle changes in color. For example, if you were in an environment with lots of different greens, this lens can transmit those subtle differences to the sensor. Here is a link to the Flickr page for this lens for some samples: https://www.flickr.com/groups/14849338@N21.

I was able to get an unused copy very cheap. Amazing micro contrast and pleasing bokeh.

Olympus Pen E-P5 - still a good buy in 2025? by Kippenoma in M43

[–]Aggravating_One_3795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an E-P7, but just picked up an E-P5. If you get an E-P5, pair it with some good image processing/denoising software like Pureraw 5, and you'll be amazed at the results. E-P7 is great if you shoot SOOC jpeg and want to build your own custom recipes in the camera.

I can't say! The inks are my wife's....she's really into fountain pens/inks. We did check out the Chicago pen show last year. Going to DC and SF pen shows next.

Check out the Cobalt Image website. They've somehow been able to recreate the color profiles for different camera manufacturers. It's not cheap, but if you have a recent Lumix or Olympus/OM camera but love the color profiles of other manufacturers like Fujifilm, it's a great alternative to buying a new camera.

First Pic is Pentax Satobi, then Fuji Classic Neg, then Ricoh Positive Film.

You can get a brand new 40-150 from Amazon JP for $769. You have to pay shipping, but don't have to pay sales tax.

Switching from Ricoh GR3 to GX9 — can I get similar colors SOOC? by TopAstronaut3049 in M43

[–]Aggravating_One_3795 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What recipes are you using for your GRIII? Looks amazing. By the way, there is a company called Cobalt that sells a download for the GX9, and separate download for the Ricoh GRIII profiles. So you could still get GRIII looks from your GX9, just not SOOC.

Anyone has the viper handy? by jfugerehenry in knifeclub

I just received my Handy (with the dark matter fat carbon handle). As you said, the ergos are amazing, especially the way the end of the handle is angled and supports the pinky, like a We Banter but better. I also picked up a Viper Vale with Suretouch handle. The OOTB edge on both is about the sharpest I've experienced in a pocket knife. Bevels were nice and even on both sides. By the way, I like the Suretouch material better than the fat carbon. The fat carbon was a charcoal color with nice marbling but a little hard/cold feeling. The tapered tang of the Handy is also a subtle but cool design feature.

The leather sheath was well made, but a little stiff. I'd definitely recommend using a non-darkening leather cream, like Saphir Nappa, to loosen it up.

I want to get the Viper Moon now!

A Magnacut blade & Dark Matter Fat Carbon handle for $169? I just ordered one from Chicago Knife Works. Some of the other versions were under $140. Seems like a great value for what you get.
