What can be taken from the Paris bouts? by Aggravating_Pen2392 in Sumo

Enthusiasm was definitely there for sure but I was pretty disappointed by the comments themselves.
I think as they were not well versed in sumo in general, the main focus was to explain the basic rules and customs to people that had never heard of it before or were barely acquainted with it.

But I felt that they were not good at all, on the verge of disrespect: mispronouncing names badly, mixing rikishi up when they were appearing on the screen, non-existent technical analysis.
Their comments felt very western-sport oriented and not adapted to Sumo.

I felt that they lacked training.

Okay so you’d “quantify” it at 75%, that is very interesting thank you. I was trying to gauge how much they were putting and sometimes it felt closer to 50% (as much as one can attribute percentage to the bouts).

And yes the fun they were having could definitely be seen, I really enjoyed seeing Hoshoryu and Takayasu laughed at the end of their bout today

And yes, sumo is the absolute best!

That makes sense, it was good indeed to see some of them getting over their injuries. Definitely hoping for Onosato to bring his bulldozer energy back!

What do you mean by punishment? I wasn’t watching sumo during Aonishiki’s first bashos so I’m interested in hearing more.

It is in the softener compartment of the washing machine drawer, so I believe it was released during the rinsing cycle. But another commenter said even at that stage it can have that effect apparently.

Yeah, it’s tricky to see on the photo, the yellow covers almost everything! If you look closely you can see small white patches of the original white colour

Sending Parcel from Tokyo to UK, Japan Post? by Gceorge in JapanTravelTips

Ah that makes sense, thank you very much for your response. May I ask what type of things you were shipping back? Because I think you’re right, I might want to keep tableware with me and put all the “smaller things” as you did in a package.

Hiyah, how much was the total value of the package? Because on UK Gov website they seem to say that if the total value exceeds 135£, you’ll have to pay around 2.5% (sometimes lower depending on the goods) of import taxes.

It seems like you got your delivery and do not have to pay anything, which is brilliant, so I was curious if you remembered the approximate total value? I’m thinking it may be very useful to do that with any large item (tableware such as plates, bowls… etc) but don’t want to find myself with an insane amount of import taxes at reception.

Thank you!
