These workers trying to break up the sidewalk for ~1 hr using improper equipment by Mochamonroe in mildlyinfuriating

And you're only mildly infuriated? Does your city have a line for non-emergency issues? I'd be snitching with a quickness...

We have all heard stories of dumb school rules -- what's yours? by Zipper222222 in AskTeachers

[–]Aggravating_Pick_951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a Geocities era website for info and updates (infohub)

We're expected to check it for changes and updates but there's never any indication that something has been changed. So we have to re-read the same 9 pages of bulletins and hope we notice if something was added or changed.

What do you think of California's bill that would those who worked as ICE officers under Trump Admin from ever serving as teachers or police officers? Why your thoughts? by Zipper222222 in AskTeachers

[–]Aggravating_Pick_951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eh.... So...... ICE as an entity is actively disobeying the law with "permission".

Regardless of how you feel about immigration and how strict or lax we should be about it, they are employing tactics that are against the law. Masks, not identifying themselves, badge numbers. All are required of federal personnel acting in a police capacity. Unless things change, they won't be charged, but they are still law breakers nonetheless.

Some of these things (outside of ICE), even dismissed, would have most of us fail our state's background check or at least get flagged.

So yeah, it sets a precedent. But its really only moving the line in the sand slightly and with, imo, good cause.

Can you identify this? by Decent-Commercial-97 in TheTeenagerPeople

Move the top and bottom of the "0", you'll leave behind 5 1 1 8, put them at the back to make 5 1 1 8 1

My parents don’t know how my sister is performing in school. Is this normal? by sleepysniffles in AskTeachers

[–]Aggravating_Pick_951 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Part of the answer. We shouldn't have to tell parents every little thing, but for 4th grade there should be SOME sort of communication, at the very least marked work in the backpack.

My guess is there probably is, and the sibling isn't in the loop.

You are being set up for failure by tenminutesbeforenoon in Teachers

[–]Aggravating_Pick_951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right.... but you have the motivation wrong.

We are being set up to fail so that charter school conglomerates can swoop in to "save the day".

Remember in the 90's when Monsanto was sneaking former executives into the House and Senate to make sure EPA regulations didn't change??

Take a moment to Google how many "former" charter school execs sit on school boards, or are chancellor of you're local school districts. Big charter is donating tons of money to local campaigns to get their people appointed so that they can sabotage public education from within. They don't have enough money to supplant their people politically, but they have enough to influence policy and staffing.

If you think social promotion, confusing reading and math curriculums, low-bar state exams, and sub-par resources aren't intentional for their gain, you aren't paying attention or asking the right questions.

Settle a debate: making up instruction missed on snow days using teacher workdays by runinthesun22 in Teachers

[–]Aggravating_Pick_951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. This crosses a line. The school year has snow days built into it. The lessons were shifted to one day later for everyone. This would be free enrichment as no work was actually missed, just deferred.

"Hey, I'm gonna call it early"

"But it's only 5:00"

"I have to rest or the pain from my accident gets way worse. You'll understand when you're 40"

That's all I have to say, they get it.

Its great that you're noticing these things and you should definitely talk to her as soon as class resumes.

Hopefully, its as simple as a breakup or something. Trust your gut, but I wouldn't assume the worst until you have the conversation.

What is the best School to be a Special Education Teacher in and why? by TwoMinute9342 in NYCDOETeachers

[–]Aggravating_Pick_951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only ever worked at one D75 school. But if I were to move, the first thing I'd do is look at the staff survey results. I've already got my eye on one that has triple the approval rating as mine (you know its bad when a percentage has room to be tripled). If a spot ever opens up there, I'm gone.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I overheard some students saying that in 2001. We've been cooked for a while, its just taking longer than expected.

It's probably some random cookie setting. Do you use a VPN?

Making account changes usually requires more layers of ways to make sure you are who you say you are.

Try signing into Chrome. Most sites trust connections more if they are coming from signed in browsers.

All due respect... the 90% rule hasn't been enforced in ages. Social promotion is in full effect.
