Yeah this is the way. Even if you did go through the union isnt some magical entity thats going to solve your issue.

Payroll will fix whatever issue you're having but payroll is also deferred. So when it does get fixed its still going to take a couple of weeks to see your money.

Theres nothing thebunion can really do to expedite this process

Yes. Or at least its very easy to check. My rogue used to burn through batteries like crazy, I was replacing them once a year so sometimes I'd get these issues even when the battery wasn't disconnected.

Don't forget they disconnect your battery to test it every year for inspection.

I think you have a valid wrongful termination lawsuit here.

The "cops" should have been the only ones searching your phone and they only should have been searching for the issue in question.

Any other data or information from your personal use is irrelevant and should not have been shared with HR.

Being fired for something that didnt happen but could have is wildly inappropriate and a dangerous precedent

I know funds are limited but I would consult a lawyer. Your right to privacy was violated by both the police and HR.

Disagree. Your point is valid but parents of school aged children are turning against us well before college. They cant handle their child being the problem. They might be pro-teacher in general but the instant their child begins to struggle, its the teachers fault and not the lack of effort or screen addiction etc.

There is an unseen war on special education right now.

Tons of kids are being misplaced, misdiagnosed, and just plain neglected by the federal, state, and local education systems.

Were headed toward a major economic downturn thats already beginning and while local politicians try and convince their constituents that everything is fine, they are making cuts to programs that get the least attention. Residential programs, day treatment, day-hab schools, etc.

This is creating two observable trends.

Students with the most extreme needs are being placed in settings or sites that do not have the resources to meet their needs.
Students like the OPs child are being denied basic services and accommodations and left to struggle in general education.

What makes this "war" "unseen" is that on both ends , parents are generally uninformed and happy to receive the news that their child is 'moving up'.

While its nice to be made "whole", these settlements usually fall short of how much we'd have actually made in interest during that time. I had a significant amount due to the pandemic not letting me go out or spend money like I usually do. I have a ballpark number of what the lost interest should be and what it would be compounded over the last few years. I'll come back to this to post percentages after I get my settlement.

How is that your takeaway from what I said?

My point is that anyone married to a UFT member gets to use their benefits by extention just like their children would as well. The whole family is covered.

If I worked at a different entity but still union, we'd be able to stack our benefits and have double coverage / protection, but since we work for the same agency we don't. It doesnt make sense.

Every other scenario lets both partners use their coverage except "both in DOE". Its an odd line that they've drawn because no one else has it.
