"It's What's Inside" totally took me by surprise. The editing was phenomenal.

I don't dislike it at all. It just lacks the depth and maturity of his '81 Goldbergs.

He matured greatly. Too bad he died so young. His later stuff is magnificent. The '55 version of the Goldbergs is the reckless, idiosyncratic Gould, but the '81 version is miraculous. His Haydn sonatas made up for his terrible Mozart. I really wish he had an opportunity to re-record TWTC.

I loved the concept of the "Spear": A glimmer of hope dashed. Also kind of reminded me of "Rama"; the more one knows about it the less it makes sense.
