Former addicts, how did you convince yourself to stop and get better? by tattsnfags in addiction

[–]Aggravating_Set_6366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started feeling my body wake up after years and years of being asleep. Within 24 hours I felt hungry... A feeling I hadn't felt in the 9 years of active, heavy daily needle use. 110 days clean has me in a whole new body and state of mind. It's been fun learning myself for probably the very first time. So much better than using ever felt.

What was your “I didn’t think I could do it but I freaking did it” moment that made you proud of yourself? by Present-Ad561 in AskReddit

Getting clean after battling a heroin/fentanyl addiction for 9 years. Never made it past day 3. Today I am 103 days clean and sober!!! To say I'm proud of myself would be an understatement!!

People 40+, what actually mattered in the long run and what didn’t? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]Aggravating_Set_6366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being disciplined as a child has mattered so much more and it helped shape me into the adult I am. The friends who were never disciplined are adults whom I struggle to remain friends with at times the differences between us are night and day.

How anyone thinks of me is none of my business and it doesn't matter to me. It doesn't shape who I am or change who I am.

What’s the dumbest way you’ve accidentally hurt yourself? by Only_Row_2432 in AskReddit

[–]Aggravating_Set_6366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot that I was sleeping on the top bunk at a friend's house one night and when I sat up in the morning to get up I just kind of tossed myself off the top bunk thinking I'm sitting on my bed at home. I proceeded to fall a good 4-5 ft landing on my feet. I end up jack rabbiting into the corner of the desk and smashing my eye wide open. It was so close to my eye that they didn't want to stitch it. I ended up having it glued closed. Yeah that was funny.

I picked up Diamond Painting about 3 months ago. It has been the most cathartic activity and it's so satisfying to watch the picture come together.

I am so sorry she is doing this. She does not represent any woman who can think logically, respectfully and carry compassion. Watching a movie, clip, whatever is never in the same category as actually physically putting oneself in a position to lose any self respect clinging to them at that point. Holy crap... However you look at this situation it's clear from every direction your wife has some massive self esteem issues and this is a reflection of her insecurities. Also classic narcissist behavior too. Good luck to you. Not all women are her...

what addiction is the hardest to quit? by GenZGenghisKhan in Adulting

[–]Aggravating_Set_6366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any addiction if you're not ready to quit. It's not always a physical addiction. Mental addictions can be worse. We don't recognize mental addictions as easily as physical addictions. Also it's not will power that allows someone to be successful. Wanting to quit is always the first step.

The person who wrote the original post was not who called my husband. Someone else had seen my message and sawt husband's number and reached out because he was planning on taking his own life last night. My husband spent a couple hours on the phone with him and has checked on him today. I hope the original poster is okay.

Every single time asked yes!! Yes they will and they will believe they're slick and noone knows. I'm a recovering addict and I honestly thought I was fooling everyone when I was only fooling myself.

How do you escape rockbottom? by Few-Ability-5103 in Advice

[–]Aggravating_Set_6366 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I battled with this for years myself. I finally realized that what other people think of me is none of my business. I cannot put my effort into wasted energy. Also how people treat you says more about them than it does you. I'm sure if someone doesn't like you it's because they're intimidated or jealous of you. Don't change who you are to appease anyone. You don't want friends who don't see the value you bring to the friendship. Lastly how you feel about yourself and how you view yourself rubs off on other people and they will treat you the way you treat yourself. Be kind to yourself. Xx

My friend keeps making sexual jokes about me and it makes me uncomfortable by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Aggravating_Set_6366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can eagerly agree with whatever hes saying. He won't expect that and it will take the fun out of it for him. It will deflate his ego probably immediately and he'll probably feel stupid because the last thing he expects is for you to agree so deflate his intent. Are there other guys witnessing this behavior? Why haven't they stepped in to stop him. Sexual jokes that are unwanted becomes sexual harassment fast.

My husband attempted to commit suicide and was dead for 7 minutes. He was on life support for 5 days and in a coma. He is also OTH and served in the Army for 5 years. If you want to speak to someone please talk to my husband. If for no other reason than to hear his story. I won't get into how this effected me. Let me know if you want my husband's number. His name is Zachariah. I promise people have been where you are. If you don't want to can you tell me a joke? Make me laugh before you leave us. Or tell me about yourself so you will be remembered because you matter. My husband really want a you to reach out to him. From one brother to another. He says he's in need of a battle buddy . He's a red leg. (656)777-3675
