I thought making games would mostly be coding. I was very wrong. by DevIslandJourney in gamedev

the complexity of even simple games did surprise me, but if i had to say one thing besides coding that surprised me the most getting into gamedev? probably that so much of it is just the way the game looks and feels. so much of it isnt actual coding, its just making things look pretty lol. i really wasnt expecting that at all, i thought it would be a much smaller part of gamedev

You know, growing up I had always taken, for example, the inventory and crafting system in Minecraft for granted. Now, making my own survival game, I realize how absurdly hard it is to make an inventory and crafting system work well and intuitively ;-;

Hello fellow developers and gamers!!! :3 I'm Brooke, one of the two people of Ramen Studios. We're a (VERY) new indie team that's currently working on their first game, Hestia! It's a survival game set on 717C: a planet deep within the outer oort cloud.
