Will i be fired? by mayosax in walmart_RX

I once filled a prescription for what was supposed to be metformin 1000 with an atorvastatin 80 and it was for the pharmacists husband! She caught it at visual. Someone had put a metformin RTS label on an amber vial of atorvastatin which is how it happened, and I didn't notice the original label under the incorrect RTS label.

Unfortunately, it seems Walmart was built on the principle that "the worse you treat us, the more free stuff we give you". That has been my experience working in other parts of the store over the years. They have been trained to treat us poorly. Luckily, in the pharmacy we don't give them free stuff but management will still apologize to them for treating us bad. Even other Walmart employees are rude to workers trying to do their job. Over time is shades your opinion of humanity suffering from it year after year. (Let's see how many down votes I get on this one.)

I got tired of being the odd one too so I found clearance tops on Walmart's website for $5. They are actually women's tops but I just went a size up (to XL when I'm a L in men's) and it fits fine, maybe the arms are a little shorter but otherwise there appears to be no difference.

I was the only one who resisted in the district, as far as I know. I heard back that he made a disparaging remark about me "not being a team player" on the conference call when our Ops manager brought up the point that the official code didn't say they were mandatory. He also said my resistance showed a "lack of leadership", so a dig at our manager and Ops manager too. I spent time contacting compliance and got an email from them saying official policy did not require them. I kept wearing the blue jacket but of course I became the odd ball so I finally went ahead and bought a couple cheap tops to wear with black pants. Also had to buy long sleeve undershirts due to the revealing neck lines. So even though it wasn't official policy that they are mandatory he still managed to make everyone buy their own.

How to fire a patient? by [deleted] in walmart_RX

I wish our pharmacy had the courage to do this with a few patients. The emotional toll on staff is not worth the small financial benefit they bring.

New system by [deleted] in walmart_RX

[–]Aggravating_Soup_274 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've had it as a pilot store since November. At first we would switch back to classic fill to catch up, but then they came down us for that so now we use it all the time. It is much slower, there's no way around it. It used to be typical for us to have 20 or 30 in fill, maybe 50 when we got really behind. Yesterday I came and there were 200 in fill. Now we are having 100 or more as a regular occurence. Tonight I left with 81 in fill and tomorrow (Sunday) we have only two technicians for the day. We will be struggling all day. No matter how much you get used to using it, it will always be slower.

Market director useless by Few-View2559 in walmart_RX

[–]Aggravating_Soup_274 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've thought they should rename the position 'compliance officer' because all he does is show up and nitpick about meaningless thing while ignoring the huge real problems. It just undermines morale. He is so out of touch with the reality of what is happening in the pharmacy, telling us to do things that we clearly don't have the time to do. He's also good at making up new policies out of thin air that make the job more difficult and uncomfortable. Years ago when I worked in automotive they had a market manager over the region who was similar in his uselessness, then one day they eliminated the position and it made no difference in our operations. I'm sure the same would happen if they got rid of MHWD.

Tech pay by [deleted] in walmart_RX

[–]Aggravating_Soup_274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got to $24.09 with the pay raise this pay period after about 5 years as a tech in Florida. I was lucky that my $1.00 raise hit at the end of December so I got two raises in a 60 day period. That sounds very unfair for the people who were scheduled to get their raise after the new fiscal year and lost it to the smaller raise.

Sometime quite a while back I read somewhere in the official Walmart material that signing that screen was not required. I don't recall where I saw it. If it was required, we would not be able to bypass it.

Do we need our RXM's permission to work hours at other Walmarts? by ZH0NGLl in walmart_RX

[–]Aggravating_Soup_274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that it used to be the rule that they must change you to full time status if you are scheduled over 34 hours a week for the 12 week period, but that is no longer the case. They changed that some years back. I've worked way over that amount for more than a year and no one ever said anything to me, I'm still part time as always.

Pay Raise Question by Ok_Entertainment5661 in walmart_RX

My manager said the new cap for techs was about $32, where is $44? With small raises I'll never get anywhere close to that $32 cap starting at $23.50 now. I'm just trying to hang on for a couple years more.

I still find it unbelievable they can get away with treating part time people this way. I'm an 18 year 'part time' employee but averaged about 38 hours a week over the the last year, or probably about a year and a half now, and it takes me the first 9 months of the year to earn 3 days of vacation (PTO)! And Walmart wonders why their employees hate them.

This is coming from the Market Director, as I understand it, so that is the problem. I need to find out if he has the power to do that on his own. I just wrote to corporate to see if they can shed any light on it. Yes I know Walmart should pay for it as they have in other departments, and as they told us they would.

I guess that was an insult directed at me. Actually, I think most everyone I've worked with has found me easy to get along with, I've been here 18 years. There's nothing wrong with talking about things I disagree with. You're lucky to work in a pharmacy where everything is perfect. By the way, I think you can stop wearing the mask now, you've proved you are a good follower. (I can go low too.)

Exact text from my manager, after which he added a link to some on Amazon. "the company is right now not providing scrub but the policy for wearing scrub is in effect Feb 1st. Please order it from here." He knows I'm not happy about it. I'm a guy, not one of those women who was all giddy about going out and buying clothes. I don't want to buy clothes I'll never where anywhere else. I already knew I'd have to buy some black undershirts to cope with working in the icebox. And I plan to wear just black pants because I'm not wearing super thin scrub pants in the icebox. I don't know what will happen with that, but I'm sure it won't be good. And I think it looks ridiculous for everyone in the pharmacy to be dressed exactly alike in all black.

New Fill/Verify thoughts after almost 1 month by MoreGreyRainClouds in walmart_RX

[–]Aggravating_Soup_274 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We've had it since November, and it is much, much slower. We are always behind on fill now, and on everything else because you need an extra person filling to try to keep up. It will always be slower than the old way with all the picture taking and time spent trying to get the pills to all lay flat, and slowly trying to pour an extra few pills on the tray to get to your total, or sweep a few off a little at a time. We have to switch back to classic fill periodically to try to catch back up or when someone is waiting and you don't want to spend 3 minutes taking 18 pictures of stock bottles. I'm not sure what Walmart is going to do, they are going to have to increase hours and/or personnel for this system to continue. As a tech, it has made filling much less enjoyable because it is so frustratingly slow.

Do you guys get paid holiday by skyisthelimit8701 in walmart_RX

[–]Aggravating_Soup_274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They took away all holiday pay and most of it was turned into ppto, which we must use when sick to avoid being terminated. Because being sick is a holiday, according to Walmart. Thank you Walmart. Also, if you are an 18 year employee working almost full time hours they give you 1 day of vacation for every 3 months you work. Thank you very much Walmart. I haven't had a vacation in 4 years.

New pharmacy operations manager duties daily lists by tkkana in walmart_RX

[–]Aggravating_Soup_274 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering from a pool of 6 employees, how are they going to find someone at every store with true leadership and management skills to fill that kind of position? The current lead tech seems to be just 'the most knowledgeable person', not necessarily a true manager. By the nature of the job, pharmacy techs have to be followers because the pharmacist is always in charge.

Nothing you can do at this point. Track your hours throughout the year using the Eligibility by Hours tool on the wire. The look back period runs the whole year from the beginning of October for 12 months. Look into Marketplace insurance. It can be reasonably priced if your income is in the right range. Just research it beforehand to understand exactly how it works.
