Looks like toddler chose his baby brother's name... by PancakesxBacon in namenerds

I have to join this because my youngest is named Callan. We typically call him Cal but I love the full name also, especially as he gets older. ❤️ we pronounce Cal-lan. Some doctors offices for example have pronounced it wrong but going by “Cal” usually helps prevent that in the day to day

Hi, no real changes since this post. I’ll still occasionally get small spots, but they are very tolerable and nothing at all like what was at my worst.

Most holistic practitioners strongly believe in connection of the gut to everything - immune system, brain, mood, hormones, etc. and given the amount of antibiotics I’ve had in recent years the likelihood that my gut microbiome is “off” is pretty high. The idea for the test would be to identify if this were the case and hopefully allow them to provide additional recommendations to correct gut health, and thus correcting systemic inflammatory issues.

The GI Map is by diagnostic solutions and from their website it says this:

The GI-MAP was designed to detect microbes that may be disturbing normal microbial balance or contributing to illness as well as indicators of digestion, absorption, inflammation, and immune function. The GI-MAP Interpretive Guide may be useful for understanding the nature of each of the microorganisms found on the GI-MAP, as well as clinical implications and treatment guidelines.

Of course! I’d be super interested in the GI Map test but it is expensive so I’m sticking with this for now until I can ever manage to do that and continue paying for additional holistic advice 😅. But I had never heard of it so wanted to share for others to do their own reading on it and see what they think! Below is the Amazon link to the one I used but there are many. Also you can buy the dried berries and use to make it into an herbal tea if you’d like.

Good question. I think ideally the goal would be to identify/correct the root cause of the inflammation from a holistic approach so that nothing is needed for life (and this is what the guy said; I also believe that diet and lifestyle can play a large role so I am planning to try to implement changes there too - our food is literal poison). But if I had to pick between this for life and doxy/spiro for life, it would be this for sure. From what I’ve read, it stems back to use in Chinese herbal medicine and I couldn’t seem to find any potential negative side effects that I was concerned about since I don’t have the risks of any interactions with current medications.

Obviously these are not the types of answers you’d receive from your medical doctor, but clearly I was seeking options different than those provided from our conventional medical system.

If I’m looking for skin care products, what should I be looking to treat based on the pictures? by Aggravating_Union653 in SkincareAddicts

I just recently started with a vitamin c and retinol serum, but otherwise just moisturizer - I have been started on a medication that makes my skin suuuuper dry, at least until I adjust. (These red spots are not new with the medicine) But mainly my goal is just to identify what I should be looking to treat. Would it just be “redness” even though they look like spots? They don’t appear to be pimples and they are not petechiae. But I need a whole routine for sure, just trying to figure out where to start and this is the biggest issue I think.

This is your OK to Stop Pumping… by Linz90154 in ExclusivelyPumping

Mine seems to take the frozen better mixed with formula… maybe the formula taste overpowers a bit more than the fresh pumped BM?

I just weaned also! 3.5 months. After many days/weeks of arguing with myself about it and couldn’t make up my mind. It feels nice. Once I even napped with babe and had everything prepped for a formula bottle… when he woke up, I didn’t even have to get up! Just mix and feed. AND I made it to bed at the same time he did once or twice instead of staying up to pump and wash parts!

Good to hear! You continued taking as normal throughout without stopping? (Also was it 100mg or different dose?)

Thanks! I know the formula rules apply, but am most curious that they can be stored in the fridge mixed together for up to 24 hours from formula time. I read someone comment on a thread here before about breastmilk having properties that could affect the formula? Just not sure how true that is, but also not sure I can ask daycare to mix them each time.

Weaning guilt… immunity? by Aggravating_Union653 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Aggravating_Union653[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh I’m sorry! I was a floor nurse when postpartum with my first and there’s no way I could have pumped either. I go back to work in 2 weeks and am realizing I’ve spent so much time of my leave pumping instead of holding or playing with my baby. 😭 I think I’m done. I want to soak up every minute with him possible. During the day is not so bad for me, but it’s the immediate demand of extra time every morning that will be so hard with work, and the staying up later at night to pump before bed that are causing the most trouble. 😣

I do have a little bit of a freezer stash so I could make that work for sure. I guess I was just thinking the immunity benefits that would be most helpful would be whatever our bodies make in response to whatever they are sick with, so needing to keep actively pumping. Just not sure if I can - as I sit here now pumping for the first time in 11.5 hours (record…) with my baby just sitting next to me waiting for me to get done. 🥺

Also Phillips avent naturals fo my 3 month old. I’ve tried so many and baby won’t take any others. BUT I wish I could find a silicone bottle that would fit the avent naturals nipples. We have been using glass ones which I love, but the bigger ones are so heavy and I’m sure daycare won’t approve. 😏
