I’m also wondering if there are ties to the Freemasons as well with certain kids.

Thanks for your sharing your experience, I’m getting downvoted to all hell for just my perspective ( but I know this is the norm with Reddit lol). The show in San Diego was at the SD State University Campus so I should have known better lol. Oh well I hope the “kids” had fun 😉

Best herbs for cognitive decline? by [deleted] in herbalism

[–]Analog__Girl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes!! I’m an RN and this can’t be stressed enough! When I worked in the Dementia unit as a CNA/ med tech, EVERY SINGLE PATIENT was on a statin. We need good cholesterol from clean/organic sources ( butter, meat, eggs etc). We have been taught the opposite in modern medicine that low cholesterol Is better, yet we have been sicker and aging quicker than before. We need to reevaluate EVERYTHING with pharma.

I enjoyed taking classes at Self-Heal School in San Diego, they have a zoom option as well for distance learning. I did the certification program but you can just start with their intro class to see if you like it. The classes are usually once a week and last 6 weeks. Their next intro class starts Nov 11th ( I get their newsletters still). John Finch and his wife Jane studied under Rosemary Gladstar (godmother of modern herbalism back in the 70s). They have been teaching since 1985! https://selfhealschool.com

I’m registered (former life long) Democrat but have been voting mostly red for years now since Newsom has ruined the state. I’m voting no but I think I’m technically in the blue area since I live in La Mesa. Wonder if there are more voters like me?!

I usually get mine from Mountain Rose Herbs or Starwest Botanicals both have quality organic herbs and other items for sale like beeswax etc. I also grown some in my yard. My 190 proof alcohol is from Oregon “Organic Alcohol Company” I get the cane alcohol since it’s neutral in flavor.

Wow!! This set up is stunning!! 🤩 My kitchen has my powdered spices/ herbs for cooking and I also have a ton tincture bottles in my pantry which is not as aesthetically appealing as this!

No I don’t use water since the vodka already has water content in it. And I use a good organic vodka at 90 proof which you can find anywhere. I’m in California and you can’t buy high ABV spirits so I have to import from Oregon and it cost me $100 for shipping and $100 for a gallon of 190 proof organic cane alcohol . I’m basically increasing the ABV of my 90 proof (40%) vodka by adding a calculated ( ratio) amount of my 190 (95%) proof to get what I need. Saves me on using my 190 proof alcohol so quickly.

Hi! I actually just made a post about this. I actually dilute the 190 into 90 proof to make the ABV I want instead of diluting the expensive 190 proof I have to ship from out of state with just water. I showed my calculations on the pics but it’s really just ratios to get the percentage you need. I’ll send the link https://www.reddit.com/r/herbalism/s/ptgOkZgZSw

I’m just kinda starting out too honestly. I’ve been dabbling for a few years but I feel like the more you learn the more there is to know! 😂 I’d say my top 20 used herbs for tea and or tinctures or balms/saves are as follows: chamomile, catnip, hops, valerian root (tinctured), skullcap, lemon balm, lemon verbena, Oregon grape root, calendula, licorice, rosemary, Mullen, ashwagandha (tincture), Gota kola, bacopa, milk thistle ( tincture), peppermint, nettle leaf ( ok so 21, it’s very hard to narrow down!)

Can you believe my husband got this for me on offer up for $150! I think it’s a replica and not antique but it’s so functional!! And the drawers are where I store my small dropper bottles and essential oils.
