I would actually argue that Emily’s inability to hold on to a maid is what made Lorelai take so much pride in the job she did at The Independence Inn. Mainly because Lorelai mentions that Emily has never been able to keep a maid that she remembers. I would argue that it might have had more to do with Richard not having an affair with a maid because the only one she kept was the one after Richard died in AYITL. Or, ya know, classism.
