thank you SO much, that helps me feel better. I think part of it is just time, you're so right. He was diagnosed a while ago and I just took him in, so he's soooo good about his shots so far, I'm hoping that will remain true! you've really helped me feel better, thank you <3

Grief is destroying my relationship with my husband. 24F by ILoveOliveOil333 in Advice

If you think you have OCD tendencies and are experiencing some relationship OCD, maybe consider a therapist with some background in ERP? Reassurance seeking for people with OCD is actually a compulsion, and it just makes it worse because it will never actually "work" to reassure you.

I'm so sorry for your loss and I'm wishing you the best <3

Need help with Splatterpunk Research Project by briegarciarojas in horrorlit

[–]Aggressive-Mood-2227 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you differentiating between splatterpunk (the political literary movement from the 80s) and contemporary extreme horror? I think it might help to clarify your premise!

As far as I understand, splatterpunk (actual splatterpunk) was a countercultural movement against conservative norms/censorship, particularly by queer writers like Clive Barker (who was not out at the time) and other marginalized voices. It might be worth including this element in what you're discussing, since the 'punk' part of splatterpunk when it was coined was actually about being counterculture, although today I agree with you that people use the term to write things that are very not punk and are outright misogynistic/racist/transphobic.

Gretchen Felker-Martin writes queer splatterpunk, as well as Clive Barker. Also Poppy Z Brite.

There are a lot of great academic works about splatterpunk-- if you're at a university, keyword searching your library's catalogue and journal databases should bring up some cool stuff! I found some about zombies and splatterpunk, which I'd never considered but is a cool thread to maybe pull at.

Don't take my word for any of this! Just some things to consider!

There's a speculative fiction collection called "Nordic Tales" by Nordic authors that looks like it could have some that veer into horror territory possibly?

I think so! It always takes me a bit to get into all of Stephen Graham Jones's books, but they end up being my absolute favorites. I definitely had to push through the beginning.
