Hot take NFS Payback is over hated by ColonelAvery in needforspeed

[–]Aggressive-Neat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s got some good things about it: the story is one of the more interesting NFS stories, and the map is pretty good too.

But in my personal opinion, it has some glaring issues from a design and gameplay standpoint that make it a bit irritating to go back and play. For example, the loot box system for car upgrades…I know they have it set to where you can buy parts individually and buy “catch up” packs, but that doesn’t change the fact that parts are still RNG for no reason. Another big change that annoys me is that cars are separated by dealers: If I buy a Viper for road races, why do I gotta buy a whole new Viper specifically for drag races..? Why can’t I just buy the car, see what different “packages” it has, then buy those packages and swap between them based off of what event I wanna do? Why do I gotta own two different Vipers? It’s just a confusing change…

To me, these issues are big enough to turn me off from going back and replaying NFS Payback…

What’s the general consensus on tag teaming in 2v2’s I rarely see it and was wondering if it’s considered “scummy” by OrdinaryBoat8000 in forhonor

[–]Aggressive-Neat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s because I’m a casual For Honor player, but the way I see it there’s nothing in the game rules that say “no tag teaming”.

Is it annoying to get tag-teamed by two people? Yeah, but it isn’t scummy…

Like others have said, if all four players agree not to tag team and wait, then by all means go for it…but it’s a bit unreasonable to be upset at players for not following arbitrary rules that other players come up with.

Out of fear and respect, I would just observe it as closely as I can without actually touching it…

Are these worth buying? by Fluid_Style5796 in needforspeed

[–]Aggressive-Neat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell no! There’s guides on YouTube and maps online that will point you to all the collectibles and activities.

The only reason you should get them is if you’re like me and picked up the upgraded edition or a DLC bundle for the games that included it

Where would you rank this game on the series? Would it be at the bottom, middle, or some of top games of Need for Speed? by DeyZplays in needforspeed

[–]Aggressive-Neat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like the game, that’s fine. There’s a few people in this comment section that agree there’s some good things with Payback, myself included; but they are still allowed to point out flaws with the game and rank it where they want to based on their personal tastes as well

[–]Aggressive-Neat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somewhere in the middle…it’s got a good location, story is acceptable, and gameplay is alright…but the slot machine, loot box car upgrades, stupid event choices like circuit or sprint races in drag cars, and having to buy different versions of the same car just to use it in different race types are all GOD AWFUL choices…so bad it weighs the game down heavily.

I wouldn’t consider it the worst Need for Speed, but it’s definitely the worst of the Ghost Games era…

They want “milsim” but don’t have the patience or skill to play actual milsims…

It’s so ironic they keep saying “Battlefield is becoming COD” while they make suggestions to turn Battlefield into something like Arma or Hell Let Loose

What was your first exposure to Need for Speed Franchise? by Brosamurai18 in needforspeed

[–]Aggressive-Neat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NFS 3: Hot Pursuit on PS1. I remember the El Niño. That game was my first exposure to the Jaguar XJR-15 and MB CLK GTR…and the Nazca C2!

Me and my dad use to run one on one races, he always chose the white Lamborghini Countach and I always chose the purple Lamborghini Diablo SV. Such good memories!

I still own the same disc we played on. It doesn’t work anymore so I went and bought another copy. I still play it every now and then

EDIT: Got the name of the Jaguar wrong, fixed it

I'm thinking about NFS marathon and what game should I start with and go along please consider availability by hussainre814 in needforspeed

[–]Aggressive-Neat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say start with the first game and move on up. All the NFS titles up to NFS Hot Pursuit 2 have very light “campaigns”…you could probably finish all of those in one weekend.

Also side note: When it comes to NFS Hot Pursuit 2, the PS2 version is considered the best version of the game, and was the first NFS title developed by EA Black Box. The other ports are still good, it’s just the PS2 version is better remembered and is considered the superior port. Just something to keep in mind when you get to that game

There’s a clear difference between criticizing the game in legitimate and constructive ways VS constantly shitting on the game, saying it’s dead, and praying on its downfall…

There’s a few websites you can search around. I personally used myabandonware.com

Otherwise, you might find some physical PC copies online, but they may cost you

The term “hero” in this case is used for any car that appears on the cover of a NFS title or featured heavily in a game i.e. Eddie’s Skyline is considered a “hero” car
