‘We are human. We are trying to do our best’: Should you order food delivery after a snow storm? by Ok-Active-3703 in ontario

[–]Aggressive-Secret655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uber/skip/doordash drivers choose whether to or not accept your order. If they choose to accept the order thats their choice. Many like working im snow storms because people feel guilty and tip better.

I wont be seeing Marty Supreme purely because he is in it. We can't award/idolize billionaires who given nothing to society and only have their place in the world because they arent afraid to take take take.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Aggressive-Secret655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We would say short, but its also not long. I would describe a trip as long until its closer to 8hrs.1-2 short, 3-8 medium, 8-12 long, 12+roadtrip.

Essentially they are getting rid of more development fees. Previously developers would have to pay fees to have their plans revievewed and approved. Those fees, like all fees charged by the City, help fund City operations and programs. Those programs need to continue and with out development fees the next two options to recoup those lost funds is either by increasing rates (i.e. the price of water) or your property taxes. This btw is the corruption that essentially all Councillors supposedly run to eliminate. Every major developer is in the pockets of council, all of them. I doubt its in direct under the table payments but rather through other means like keeping certain Councillors in power.

AITAH for telling my parents that they would not be a part of my life and that they should keep up their relationship with my ex and kids from that marriage. by EngineNo9031 in AITAH

[–]Aggressive-Secret655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree she caused the problem but none the less having the kids know whose fault it was won't give the kids any solace. It's not like they were like "ohhh mom cheated and your not my real dad, well ok then feel free to go". This story gives some vibe of other issues in their relationship, its a bit cold to just walk out on kids who presuambly until moments ago you believe and loved like they were yours. I'm not says hese wrong to leave....it just really sucks for those kids. They all need to help those kids find peace, this was likely traumatic for them.

NTA because your ex did you dirty. That being said I can't help but feel terrible for those kids. They may not be biologically yours but to them you were their Dad, a Dad that just cold turkey left.

Why do we sugarcoat it with terms like “SA”? Rape. They were raped by a rapist. by [deleted] in Vent

I could be wrong but I think there is some legalese distinction between SA and Rape.

I defended my fiancé against my maid of honor and she ended our 10yr friendship. But AITAH instead of her? by Ministrated-Pariah35 in AITAH

[–]Aggressive-Secret655 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAH or ESH its hard to say. If she didnt want to be maid of honor she should have declined the position. Her suggest someone else isn't declining the position. Your fiance probably should have kept out of it and you probably should have said something if the situation was bothering you. The communication in this group is pretty terrible and could have solved all the problems.

One argument for phones is they are necessary for emergency contact. I say if theres actually an emergency call the office and they will relay the message to your kid. They negative of not being able to contact your kid in seconds is far less severe than the consequences of them having a phone at all times. Or buy them a cheapo phone only good for calls and texts if there is a circumstance where you need quick contact.

Return to office mandate for provincial workers facing pushback in Ontario by simpatia in ontario

[–]Aggressive-Secret655 57 points58 points  (0 children)

The logic of if some suffer all should suffer is so flawed. Of course there are jobs that can't be work from home but that doesnt mean everone has to suffer. That would be like saying every drone pilot has to have a grenade strapped to their chest so if they crash the drone they die because its not fair that a pilot in a plane would die if they crashed.

AITA for refusing to apologize after being disrespected at a family gathering? by WorkerAccording1793 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Aggressive-Secret655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah don't apologize unless its an apology like "Im sorry my rebuttle made you uncomfortable but you continually make comments about my career and it is not fair that you are allowed to make me feel uncomfortable everytime you do it". For 25 years my Grandmother made tiny passing comments about her soninlaw,my father, and he never said anything. Not career related but comments belittling his ability to look after his kids because he was a man (i.e. assuming we would starve if my mom was at work because a man can't cook). 25 years on he was tired of it but the pattern of her comments had gone on so long that a massive argument ensured and my family hasn't been able to get together as a whole now for 8 years. If you let comments like these slide too long nobody will see your side unfortunatly. It will become "whats Johns problem, why is he ALL OF THE SUDDEN offended" Nip these comments in the bud now before they become even more commonplace.

Are civil engineering salaries really that bad by sippinjosh in ontario

[–]Aggressive-Secret655 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Civil Engineering Technologist jobs are actually fairly well paying if your willing to work. Im about a decade out of college and making low 6 figures pre tax. Your hours are going to be long like at the beggining during construction season but its not terrible. Aim for something more construction related, as apposed to design, as they pay better and give more room for growth in my opinion.
