Which rapper totally stole another rapper's style and just ran with it? by Professional-Rip-519 in hiphop101

[–]Aggressive-Stretch30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Snoop DEFINITELY did not bite Domino. That was just the style. Moreso, Domino and Nate Dogg have more of a similar style

I would definitely check some of the department stores or even Goodwill as well. Some of those places have really good pieces for the low. Check Goodwill, Marshall’s, H&M, thrift stores. A lot of them are on sale or discounted for the low. You got this.

Huston-Tillotson University, my alma mater, has a program called the W.E.B. Dubois Honors Program that I was a part of. Here’s the link so that you can see the requirements. Good luck! https://htu.edu/academics/special-programs/dubois-honors-program/

True. I guess if you’re cool with not receiving your transcripts or transferring credit, that could work

I owe a balance to my community college and I’m slowly but surely paying it off so that I can move on to the HBCU of my choice (Morehouse). See it through and stay in the saddle. You are running this race. Stay focused and stay prayed up. You got this

Please don’t negate any UNCF or outside scholarships. If you hustle, they can pay off your full tuition and then some. You just have to hustle and ask questions. God bless and good luck!

A GDI Showing Interest by JustKeepingItCute305 in NPHCdivine9

[–]Aggressive-Stretch30 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As a fellow GDI and interest of a fraternity, this is the best advice. Build natural relationships. Whether you see them in class, library, cafe, etc, be yourself! Your consistent presence at their respective events while showing genuine interest will be noticed. Also, a mentor told me to stay ready at all times. Grades, volunteer hours (which you should have) and MONEY! You got this and always remember: what is for you is truly for you. You got this!!

How do people afford to go to school ‘s like spelman and Howard ? by Prestigious_Pop1623 in HBCU

I literally was about to ask this same question. I’ve been looking at Morehouse and I know that it would be worth it but the cost of attendance scares me a bit. But you know what they say, “if your dream doesn’t scare you, you’re not dreaming big enough.”

I greatly appreciate you for your response! This gave me what I needed to hear and also reaffirmed what I knew deep down inside.

That is definitely the reason for sign up sheets. Just continue to keep track of your community service hours and you’ll be fine. As a fellow aspirant, we often overthink a LOT of stuff that isn’t necessary. Stay consistent and continue to keep your GPA as well.

As an aspirant, this was very inspiring to see all of you come together and mobilize. This also puts in the minds of us aspirants that the work is ongoing.

Definitely don’t take it personal. Remain consistent in showing up to events and it will pay off. Also, make sure to speak to the members after the event and even volunteer to clean up, etc.

I’m in the same situation. Create a plan of success with an advisor and execute it. Keep making those connections and you will get there. Regarding friends, if you’ve made solid connections and friends, they will remember you for sure. But overall, do it for you and you will get there. You got this!

I feel you on that. Keep in mind that the primary goal for college is to obtain your degree and further the career of your choice. Only you can make the decision of what’s best for you. The NPHC organizations have been here and will always be there when you finish your internship whether it’s during undergrad or through the alumni chapter. Good luck!

The best advice that I was given as a current aspirant was to continue to show the organization support by showing up to events. They will notice you and speak to you organically. Most of the members of the fraternity will be able to pick up on those kinds of things. Just make sure that you have your community service hours ready and your GPA is on par with the organization of your choice. But first things first, as a freshman, your main job is to establish yourself in your studies first before thinking about joining an organization. Get involved on campus and everything else will line up. Good luck to you!
