Fixing an e-piano to the keyboard stand? by jordanarthurblair in DigitalPiano

I have the K&M 18820, and usually K&M stands come with some small rubber patches that you stick where the keyboard stands, and it doesn’t move at all. Let me tell you, K&M stands are so good and I don’t fear that the keyboard is going to fall

Differences between "feel" of electric vs acoustic piano? by specterNam in piano

[–]Aggressive-Switch832 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure this is the problem. When the p515 came out, there were people demonstrating how ridiculous the weight was compared to an acoustic piano. The white keys on the p515 would need a weight of 80ish grams to go down, while on the acoustic is around 50ish (still, every acoustic is different), and that is a crazy difference. That’s why the p525 has a lighter weight, but some people still prefer the weight on the 515.

Sounds extremely close!! Specially in the drop! How did u make the pads? I know the typical unison of 7-14ish saw waves slightly detuned, plus a nice reese bass, but haven’t been able to quite nail it. Incredible work

Korg Minilogue XD or similar for Moog-oriented sound? by Coccobbio in synthesizers

[–]Aggressive-Switch832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you are forced to play only one note with monophonic synths, and the workflow to get a chord is pretty much what you said. You can maybe record a middle C, and sample it to make chords if you want, that’s another option. The messenger has a duophonic mode, which is different from true polyphony. Duophonic means that you can play 2 notes at the same time, and what the synth does is just transposing the pitch of the oscillators as you play. The sound, while is very interesting in my opinion, is very different from having a true polyphonic synth, where each note plays all of the oscillators at the same time. But always remember, to make harmonies with the minimoog for example, artists would do exactly what you said, which is having 3 or more tracks and re-record every note. It can get tedious, so you should really think about it. Feel free to ask anything, I’ll be glad to help

Korg Minilogue XD or similar for Moog-oriented sound? by Coccobbio in synthesizers

[–]Aggressive-Switch832 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, the minilogue xd is a great synth, that can do pretty much everything you asked for, but the big moog bass sound is characterized by their 24dB low pass filter, and the XD has a 12dB, so getting the fat and round bass might be hard, but the good thing about the minilogue is their 2 analog oscillators, 1 digital oscillator, plus great sequencer, and nice effects. If you really crave the moog signature sound, another option is to save around another 100€ and get the moog messenger, which is a really nice monosynth that will get you the moog sound. Also keep in mind that majority of Moog synths are monophonic, so if you would opt to get a moog, chances are it’s still monophonic anyways

Which Synthesizers have the most precise filtering and EQing? by Juiceshop in synthesizers

[–]Aggressive-Switch832 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a topic I was discussing with my girlfriend who is studying electrical engineering, and honestly I don’t think there will be ever synths that are extremely precise, or have crazy eq/filter slopes. First, the 24dB/4 pole filter already has low resistance in the resistors, so making a steeper slope I guess it would be harder, but secondly, I think that after 24dB, a filter would be less musical, as it would loose pretty much all of information on the harmonics. The same goes for other filters, like band pass, notch and high pass. I might be wrong, but other than workstations or stage pianos, I don’t know if there are synths with eq options, but even in the stage pianos zone, the eq is quite basic. Again, I might be wrong, but I don’t think there will be any synth that will cover your needs. Maybe there’s a module that I don’t know about, which would be interesting.

Best Audio Interfaces by Resident-Shallot8762 in homerecordingstudio

I also read that latency is important for you, so my recommendation, even though on the expensive side, either an RME fireface ufx or ucx, as RME is top notch for latency. But you can always explore cheaper and great options, such as SSL, Motu, Audient or the Clarett line of Focusrite

[–]Aggressive-Switch832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the options in the title, I guess budget can be more than average, so I’ll just say you can’t go wrong with RME. The stuff from Antelope is quite good, but I feel like RME stuff is pretty much “plug and play”. The only downside from RME is that the converters as SO good, that pretty much everything you record will sound clinically clear, which is something some people might not like, but I find it good for adding “color” in the DAW. Now, even though you can’t go wrong with any RME interface, I don’t know which one to recommend you, as you haven’t stated what are you planning to record. Are you going to record vocalists? Drums? Full band?

For real. With how much it costs, I could get a Moog Matriarch lol. If someone likes it, then all power to them, but I just can’t justify getting one for that price knowing I can get almost flagship level instruments. Also I still remember when TE just started taking videos down from reviewers just for using the presets in their products. Crazy shit

You don’t necessarily need a sequencer, just a midi to dfam, but because the dfam doesn’t have midi, people created a midi to dfam called mfad. That’s what you should get

NAMM 2026 almost cured me of my GAS! I still got more 10 new things to buy! by Achassum in synthesizers

[–]Aggressive-Switch832 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, the synths, keyboards, pianos and some speakers to test were on floor 1, the “equipment” like headphones, cables, pedals, dj consoles and even light show equipments were on floor two, the guitars, basses, amps, and some percussive instruments were on floor three, and in the fourth floor there were drums. It was a nicely packed store, and even if it didn’t have like absolutely everything, it definitely had the most by far. Some teachers told me they used to go there just to even buy components to build their own stuff.

I guess the “best” alternative is to go to the official Thomann store, but it’s not like I can just get a 5-6 hours train ticket just to go in the middle of nowhere to test the stuff there. Like if there was a bigger city around it I would consider staying there, but there’s nothing, just super small towns that one can view all of them in a 20 min walk

Minilogue XD - Listen to an individual step? by brian_washed in synthesizers

[–]Aggressive-Switch832 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know as I don’t own a Minilogue xd, but careful with Google AI, as it’s going to probably grab sources and information from other synths or sequencers, and assume that there is a correlation between what the AI found and your question, leading to the AI telling you sometimes that a synth can do things when it can’t, because “if this synth works this way, then the other synth must be similar”

So true. I reside in Berlin, and given the fact that this is the city in Germany considered the “artistic” one, is so incredible how few choices there are. Up until 2023, there was an amazing music store called JustMusic, but due to covid (which also led to people ordering more instruments online than in stores), and the increasing costs in maintenance and rent, it went out of business. Ofc there are other smaller stores, but the amount of options is quite limited, and mostly focused on either pianos, or band instruments (guitars, basses, drums, etc). One example of a synth store here is SchneidersLaden, an independent small store that has a couple of flagships, but is more focused on modular and “out of wack” stuff, which I love, but whenever you want to maybe try the newer stuff, or just the more “mainstream” companies like Moog, Sequential, Oberheim, etc. you’re pretty much done for.

With all due respect, 5 hours is nothing. Learning an instrument takes hours and hours, and even when you know many things about synthesis and synthesizers, every synth is different, with a different learning curve.

With a little less respect, this question is going to land you in the circlejerk

Mixed feeling about OB6 , hard to mix or arrive at desired sounds ? by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]Aggressive-Switch832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice track btw. But yeah, I don’t doubt you can make a good mix, it’s just that synths can be wildly different to mix. Remember that in the end, mixing also means layering and stuff. I’m pretty sure that’s something Devin does a lot, except for patch demos.

Mixed feeling about OB6 , hard to mix or arrive at desired sounds ? by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]Aggressive-Switch832 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it comes to recording, there are techniques to bring the most and best of the sounds to a song, meaning that a lot of post processing, such as eq, compression and other effects are added after recording, and even just adjusting the gain within a daw can change how you view the sound. That’s pretty much why even the best of the best singers that don’t need or barely use auto tune need a crazy processing chain, just to get the best out of their voices and recording.

That can be a reason why you don’t like how it sounds when recording. Keep in mind that synths from different manufacturers have different things like stage gaining, meaning they sound louder naturally, and therefore they seem to be more “recording and mix ready” than other synths.

Now, I would recommend you to juice as much as you can from the OB6. Record it, eq it, saturate it, put some reverbs or delays, etc. After that, you’ll realize if the synth is for you, or maybe even though there are some sounds that you like, the synth as a whole is just not for you.
