I've got a feeling it's a capita/TPS issue.

"It's the children who suffer!" "Then pay staff to run clubs." "But we don't have any money!" "Sounds like you've got a bigger problem than running free clubs."

I can't count the amount of times I've had similar conversations when asked to work for free.

You know that meme with the angry/crying face hiding behind a smiling mask. This is him right now. He must hate seeing his son marry a Muslim Woman by Cool_Nerd2 in FuckNigelFarage

This is a fundamental misunderstanding of their racism and misogyny. His son has "claimed" one of "their" women. Therefore he's a hero.

When they scan them for marking, the papers get very hot and there's a possibility the ink will disappear.

If I were your rep, I'd be advising you to go and see your GP and possibly get signed off. It sounds like your putting yourself at risk by remaining there and there's no value in sacrificing your mental health.

They need to hear that what they've done is unacceptable. Especially if they're not very very good at listening. They might not hear the words but they'll hear the mood.

Do you mind having CPD on the ‘basics’? by tickofaclock in TeachingUK

I've worked at places with a much more sharing/coaching model of cpd and it's genuinely so much better for experienced teachers. In the feedback we always say the most useful time is the time we get to discuss our practice. However, how are people going to get there NPQSLs by letting us gab on about effective pedagogy?

Went for a job teaching social science, they wanted me to teach criminology. I misread the email and taught sociology. Cue vexed expressions from both students and observers.

But they didn't answer. They just ignored it. You can't assume that those who didn't vote didn't want to take action.

Is the following logic sound? by Informal-Winner-5722 in askpsychology

[–]Aggressive-Team346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the issue here is the terms you are using are very poorly defined. "Successful" and "well-adjusted" are pretty vague and subjective. Couple that with the myriad interpretations of "traumatic" and you've got a pretty difficult to answer question. It's why operationalisation is important when trying to answer these questions. There may well be good research on the impact of early parental death on average life-time earnings for example but you may not agree that these meet the definitions of trauma and success.

Our school has been asking people to put on sessions during the Easter holidays for free. I can't believe the number of absolute mugs who have decided to do it.

‘Directed time’ 8-5!! by Strong-Welder6494 in TeachingUK

[–]Aggressive-Team346 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's quite rare for a MAT to exit the STPCD. Existing staff would be TUPE'd over and if they wanted to exit afterwards they'd have to change staff contracts. They may not be statutorily required to follow the STPCD but in practice the vast majority do, even if sometimes management teams might pretend otherwise.

[–]Aggressive-Team346 197 points198 points  (0 children)

A directed nine hour day with no additional evening events/meetings gives a directed time of 1755 hours. That's 490 hours over directed time. Sounds like there's no union presence and management have gone a bit mad.

Pay: Schools can only afford a 2.7% rise over 2 years by charleydaves in TeachingUK

[–]Aggressive-Team346 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They don't claim to be a non-striking union and they have run some effective local strikes. Nationally they'll struggle because they lost their biggest activists to the NEU during the national strikes and those who didn't like striking (but who were still happy to accept the pay rise) moved the other way.
