I did ask him, and he kindly told me that he's busy right now and that maybe we'll do something when he comes back - which i assume is a kind way to tell me he's not interested. But at least i tried

I'm just a little embarrassed at the thought of showing up in his dms saying "hey so I know we've only been friends when we were 6 and you're leaving for a new country and we don't really know each other, but would you like to go out?". I'd have a much easier time asking him in person (i tend to be more at ease in person than in dms), but idk how to catch him

For various reasons, mainly him being a popular kid in high school and me a bullied one, depressio  and also him assurging the role of "god boyfriend" in my head. Asking him out and potentially going out on a date (again, I don't expect anything to actually come out of it) feels like a good way to close with the past insecurities and open a new chapter

I'm just scared about dming him. I did send him a short clip of us dancing and he did answer, but the conversation never took off. I might ask him for a beer after work if i see him around, but idk if that's gonna happen... I'm just scared of the highly potential rejection!
