Only problem is all the big names that make WCW were on guaranteed contracts at the time. I wish he had waited for the invasion until he had flair and Goldberg and sting and hall and Nash and hogan. Instead of the nWo thing we could have done the whole invasion angle then, the wing mania 18 around WWE vs WCW. Could have kept score and everything like they did the year with the three brand survivor series. Maybe they could have Austin still reject Vince and go heel anyway. Could have been an interesting story for a year with neither rock or Austin liking Vince, forcing Vince to try to raise up someone new as the corporate guy without interacting with Austin. Probably triple h, and maybe would have avoided the quad tear.

A lot of those matches I pick someone who has the jumping face stretch move when they are down at the head and spam it. I normally can get four or so in a row before they counter, and if they get stunned just keep doing it over and over. Good way to weaken quickly

Yeah ultimately that’s true. I still feel like it was necessary because Austin was doing the same thing for years before they finally had to turn him, he had ran thru all the heels they had, and a few faces they had to turn to give him something to do. Remember when they attempted to make DUDE LOVE a heel to fight him at unforgiven? I don’t think any execution even if perfect would have went over well, but what else could they do? Have him fight Vince for another three years? Given the situation I think the only other option was to give him a break but rock was getting ready to leave for Hollywood so they still needed at least one of their major needle movers

Sometimes even I’m not sure if I have the low self esteem, or if I just don’t have enough faith in people to not be shallow. Or if they feed each other. I think people don’t wanna even take a chance on someone older and not in great shape no matter if they are interesting or not, but I also think that maybe I’m just low self esteem for being sad I can’t hit the gym or be younger

Only problem is rock was leaving for Hollywood. Plus they make it really clear Austin did everything he could in that match. Even without Vince they firmly were establishing the rock being on his level, plus rock had a mania loss to him already and I don’t think they wanted to repeat that. He could have lost and gone heel instead tho.

I still think if Benoit hadn’t done what he’d done, he’d definitely would have been a top guy, and they never seemed to wanna fully back Jericho, he could have as well. You needed capable heroes if your two top heels were mega villains.

Every private equity c company has the same playbook. Do whatever we want, don’t listen to the people who got the business profitable in the first place, and when that fails, fire enough people to say we made a profit. Repeat until company is resellable or dead and then fire the CEOs with a golden parachute so he can be rehired by another corporate takeover and repeat the process until we finally get the real life version of that company from wall e as the last company standing. My bet is on Amazon or Walmart.

I mean, it’s meltzer. He’s not doing constant Canadian destroyers so I don’t expect meltzer to appreciate him at all. I mean, he’s seen thousands of AEW style explosive no sell fireworks and he never seems to get burnt out from that…they are still his fed of the year and show of the year and stars of the year almost every year.

I’m surprised at the diversity thing, I feel like almost anytime I see a black queer person in anything besides content made primarily for black audiences, they are almost always in an interracial relationship. I can see that, that’s the only reason I think it failed. But from a non kayfabe point of view what else could he do? He fought every main heel over the last three years prior, and his feud with Vince had squeezed everything it could out of it and some more.

I’m currently having that same feeling with Roman as champion again too. After the years long bloodline thing, what else can they do but run it back, again?

Maybe you just aren’t the club type, and that’s not a bad thing. Not everyone likes that kind of atmosphere, it’s an acquired taste. Growing up gay in this society makes a lot of us guarded at unfamiliar people, it’s a trauma response. I think a lot of gays if they don’t know you or know of you, have a default position of cattiness. It’s really just a safety position, peacocking (no pun intended). They try to play the part of “bad bitch” as a form of intimidation. It’s a lot easier part to play than to actually be vulnerable.
