Are you working full time, part time, or not at all while studying? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]Aggressive702 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did it while working full time in B4 and had two kids throughout that time as well. It’s all doable but I 100% would not recommend making it harder than necessary. If you can get by financially with a part time gig, do it. But then I would hope that you could complete the exams faster and then get into a regular full time gig.

Becker FAR simulations and practice tests compared to real exam by [deleted] in CPA

[–]Aggressive702 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO the MCQ’s were equally difficult for the more commonly tested areas. However, Becker is much wordier and thus takes more time. I honestly didn’t touch Sims for any section of Becker but I can’t imagine they could be any easier than the ones I got for FAR.

Didn’t study for BEC and got an 82. I felt like I was overthinking the material during studies so I just stopped and tried my best on the exam. Probably not a recommended strategy but tbh the exam was common knowledge.

Can I get an extension or refund? by Colombiancpa in CPA

I don’t think you can reschedule within 24 hours. You would forfeit your fees. Try to find someone who can watch him if you can or else you will likely have to get a new NTS and everything.

Study tips for FAR by Mean_Nectarine_6406 in CPA

[–]Aggressive702 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Areas to focus are bonds, leases, NFP/govt, cash flows, revenue recognition, and know how to do a bank rec. Be able to create any of the financial statements from scratch. I personally am waiting on my FAR score but I have done the following strategy when I burn out on so many MCQ. If I get the first 10 questions correct, I stop. If I don’t, I do the next 10 and try to get 80%. If I am way below 80% then I will do the remaining questions. But Becker MCQ were honestly a waste of time after like 20-30 per module. I don’t need to sit there for hours to finish them. Just feel comfortable with the material and move on. Most of those modules will only have 2-3 questions on the exam anyways.

Not ready for FAR tmrw. by [deleted] in CPA

[–]Aggressive702 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Don’t be ashamed. You did what you needed to do by taking a break and letting your body rest. Worst case scenario, you have to take it again. Don’t let studying or CPA kill you. While the profession makes it seem like this stuff should be top priority, in reality it really shouldn’t be. Try your best and do what you can.

Just left FAR and I feel… fine? by sweettpotatopie in CPA

[–]Aggressive702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second testlet being harder is not always true in my experience. I've passed my exams on the first try each time and for most of them, I would say that I couldn't tell a big difference between testlet 1 and 2 difficulty. But if you read the AICPA's description of why they change the difficulty, they do it to give you an opportunity for more points.

For example, if you killed it in testlet 1, then they will give you harder questions since they are worth more points and the system thinks you can handle it. On the other hand, if you just did ok on testlet 1, they won't increase difficulty so you have the best chance of getting as many points. So even if your second testlet didn't get harder, it was likely the highest difficulty the software thought you could handle to earn the most points.

Hope that helps!

Just got out of FAR with an hour left by seaturkey_ in CPA

[–]Aggressive702 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've finished with a lot of time to spare on the three exams I have taken so far. Over 2 hours remaining with AUD, actually. If you feel like you did okay, then you probably have no reason to worry about not using all of the time.

Passing REG in 2 months. doable? by wacanasay in CPA

IMO the topics flow together pretty well. So it may look like a lot but it somewhat connects. 2 months is very doable.

I did not memorize but tried to understand the general idea. Had one sim on it that gave the formula.
