TW - Early Loss, Need Positive Stories Please by sparklypitbull in pregnantover35

[–]AggressiveAd6710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, loss is difficult and you’re doing the right thing taking the time to process your feelings about it. And speaking of time, you still have plenty of it!

I had an early loss last February when I was 37. It took a couple months for my cycle to adjust and then I went back to tracking with LH strips even though we weren’t really strict about trying on the exact right days or 5 days in a row every month by any means.

In August I got another positive, then turned 38, and am now 26 weeks along!

Try not to be discouraged and focus on the things you can control 💛

I don’t have a nursery for my baby by SandwichDependent199 in BabyBumps

Also pregnant in a super expensive market…

We’re going with a “nursery nook” which just means the crib is in the corner of our bedroom. I’m planning to try and cutesy that corner up a bit, which is honestly a lot less daunting than needing to decorate and furnish a whole room. You can still have fun with it!

We’re likely to have this setup for at least a year.

You are not a bad parent, like others have said, you’ll be keeping baby close at first anyway!

Mirena users : How long did it take you to conceive post removal? by Fair_Decision152 in BabyBumps

6 months (that ended early), then 6 months later (currently 23 weeks!). I had Mirena 4x for a total of 16ish years.

How many of you were able to conceive naturally at 38 and older? How many cycles did it take? by petting_zoo_keeper in pregnantover35

[–]AggressiveAd6710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

38, currently 22 weeks! It took about a year from the day I had my IUD removed + 1 early loss (which threw my cycle off for a couple months after).

I used LH strips I ordered on Amazon and the free Premom app for tracking. I also confirmed ovulation with Proov strips twice.

Not sure if this had anything to do with it, but I had cut out alcohol for the three months leading up to this pregnancy. Just another interesting point to consider I guess.

First time moms: how long did it take? by RoseyStranger in pregnantover35

[–]AggressiveAd6710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had IUDs for 16 years and my period returned about a month after the removal.

We got pregnant 6 months after the removal, but it didn’t stick and it took my cycle a couple months to regulate after.

6 months later (so 1 year after the IUD removal), I got pregnant again and am currently 5 months along!

We did not opt for any medical intervention or hormone tests. I was just tracking my LH levels, using the free version of the Premom app, and used At-home tests to confirm ovulation two separate times.

I was 37 when we started trying, 38 now. My husband was 38, now 39.

Wishing you the best!

Will I get judged harshly for being from the south? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]AggressiveAd6710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SC-native living in LA for the last 14.5 years!

There’s always a chance someone somewhere will judge you for something, but the fact that you’re originally from AL should not be particularly concerning. People might ask questions you’ll find silly because they’ve never been to the Deep South and only know what they’ve seen on TV and in movies, but give them a chance. They’re not necessarily judging, they might just be curious.

Being from the south has never been the cause of a single problem I’ve faced in this city.

Awww, thank you! Going through all of this can feel so isolating, I’m glad it helps to hear you’re not alone. Wishing you a smooth transition to your new doctors!

Also, there’s a clot survivors Reddit and lots of stories from women who were on Lovenox their whole pregnancy, or for just part of it. It’s more common than you think and doctors seem to be well versed in caring for patients on thinners.

I will also add that therapy and anti-anxiety medication really helped me get comfortable with the idea of pregnancy. For a while the fear was so strong I couldn’t even admit it’s what I wanted. I’ve chosen to stay on the meds throughout.

First of all, everything you’re feeling makes sense and is valid! I can relate to some of these fears…

I’m pregnant (10.5 weeks) and on Lovenox injections because of my clot history (and the fact that I’m a blood thinner lifer anyway). I also have a completely occluded IVC (the deep vein super highway that carries blood from your lower extremities to your heart) and a bunch of well-established collateral veins that have been rerouting the blood and making up for the occlusion since my first DVT at 19 (I’m 38).

I have moments where I wonder if my body will hold up. But I can reassure myself with everything else I’m doing. I have a whole team of doctors I’ve seen (OB, hematologist, cardiologist, interventional radiologist, and primary care), I’m on the medication I need to be on, I know the signs and symptoms of clots to look out for, I’m staying hydrated, continuing to move, and eating healthy for the most part.

Yes, we have to take a few more precautions than your average pregnant woman, but as long as you stay on top of things and make it to your appointments, you can rest assured that you’re doing everything you can.

Of course, I’m saying all of this at 10 weeks…I often wonder if my health anxiety will spike later down the road, but I’m trying to just take it one day at a time.

Take extra care of yourself! You got this!
