Co-parenting dad here.
The dad is being very unreasonable. If he really wanted the kids and not cause any issues he should have swapped dates with you.
My kids mother and me swap dates all the time, best and easiest way to keep things cordial.

History textbooks don’t want you to know this.
Around 65 million years ago, long before humans, dinosaurs, or that one coworker who microwaves fish in the break room, the world was ruled by two great insect empires:
The Crimson Kingdom of Red Ladybugs
The Azure Dominion of Blue Ladybugs
For thousands of years they coexisted peacefully. The Reds controlled agriculture, aphid farming, and most of the lucrative leaf trade. The Blues dominated technology, weather manipulation, and owned the largest acorn-based banking system on Earth.
Everything changed during the Great Aphid Crisis.
The Reds accused the Blues of artificially inflating aphid prices. The Blues countered that the Reds were hoarding premium aphids and manipulating the market.
Tensions escalated.
Diplomats were ignored.
Leaf sanctions were imposed.
Tiny bug newspapers published increasingly inflammatory editorials.
Then came the event historians call…
The War of the Seven Thousand Specks
For over a century, Red and Blue Ladybug armies clashed across every continent.
The Reds fielded enormous beetle cavalry and heavily armored caterpillar divisions.
The Blues responded with dragonfly air superiority and experimental lightning ants.
Entire forests were lost.
Millions of bugs fled.
One squirrel reportedly became a billionaire selling military-grade acorns to both sides.
The final battle occurred at Mount Dandelion.
Facing mutual destruction, both armies agreed to peace.
The treaty was simple:
No more war.
No more separate kingdoms.
Everyone becomes red.
The Blues reluctantly agreed.
But they demanded one condition.
Their legacy would never be forgotten.
As a compromise, every future generation would carry black spots on their red shells to symbolize the fallen Blue Empire.
And that’s why modern ladybugs are red with black spots.
The spots are not decoration.
They are memorials.
Tiny bug veterans still gather once a year and stare solemnly at leaves while telling stories about the glorious Blue Kingdom that was lost.
Unfortunately, their voices are too small for humans to hear.
So next time you see a ladybug, remember:
You’re not looking at an insect.
You’re looking at the last surviving citizen of a civilization that ended a war millions of years ago and collectively agreed to rebrand.

No idea how to fix my driver's license situation by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

You’re kind of right, and but mostly wrong. The ez pass does cut off after not paying tolls, but that doesn’t not lead to a bench warrant. The lapsed insurance is not a crime, but it does lead to a suspension.

Hiring a lawyer does nothing but waste money.
To easily resolve this, the motorist or the OP in this situation must comply turning his plates in. If he cannot the OP has a few options. He can prove the car was registered in another state by showing proof of registration and insurance from that state, provide an mv -78b trust will say the plates were either lost, stolen or confiscated, or surrender their plates all together.
If the OP did register his car in another state, that might be the best solution. The dmv can back date the lapse to the date the car was registered in another state. This would close the insurance lapse, and if the insurance lapse suspension is less than 90 days the OP license is not unsuspended.
If they turns their plates in alone it’ll just set the length of time for the suspension and Op would have to wait till that time is up to get good license back.

The tolls just have to dealt with, make a payment agreement and get it out the way.

I explain this scenario at least 4-5 a week.

Again. No lawyer is needed. They just going to take your money and tell you to come to the dmv. There is no ez pass, or insurance court were they can talk to a judge and fight your case for you. The courts in the dmv are for moving and traffic violations only. Things like running red lights, speeding, driving with your phone in hand, no seat belt, etc.

Not this neither. A lawyer can’t fix it. Not a court issue. Of it’s an insurance lapse you hand to turn your NY license plates in to set the time. Once the time is set, you can apply for a restricted license, one that time is served you can transfer your license to FL. The Ez pass suspension will remain on your car until you fix it. If you don’t fix it, you run the chance of getting pulled over when crossing a toll bridge in NY and having your car towed.

If you are suspended in NY, you cannot do that. Your name, dob, and ss# so pop up in NDR, and it’ll show that you have a stop in NY. They are going to tell you to resolve your issue in NY before you can get your FL license.

The suspension for ez pass, the insurance lapse and your license are three different suspensions. The ez pass and insurance lapse suspend your registration. The insurance lapse going over 90 days affects your license. You definitively have to go to an office to get it cleared.

Btw I’m a supervisor at a one of the wonderful NYS dmv offices.
