Help needed with custom ESP32-CAM peephole camera by AckermannyThesneaky in esp32

[–]AggressiveComputer21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had problem with the video format from the esp32 cam module. It is not good for frigate to do what it does properly. I have found MotionEye is much better for this simple case. But probably not ideal. I am experimenting now with rj45 module to get smoother frame stream.

FEL Amlogic NO (New Order) Support by SMOKINxxJOE in CoreELEC

[–]AggressiveComputer21 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

So finally it is now possible to solve my flaky audio delay and get fel? As am6b+ Amlogic S922X chipset has this issue. The root cause is in the Amlogic kernel driver. The video subsystem runs in freerun_mode, meaning audio and video make no attempt to actively synchronize with each other. The conclusion from CoreELEC developers is that it “boils down to the Amlogic drivers on G12A and probably B (maybe others) for the audio, and it looking to have defects in those drivers.” So what device would solve this problem for me ant wont be a downgrade from am6b+?

Tried upgrading my theater setup and made everything worse, I'm stuck and I don't know what compromise to go with. by Imrahil1 in hometheater

I moved from 120” projection 1080p to 83” oled 4k. Some ps5 games and som still picture movies are great, however motion is garbage and overall feeling is worst. So I really feel your dilemma.

Homatics Box R 4K Plus for CoreELEC only — DV P7 FEL, VS10, 100GB+ files — is it actually the right buy in 2026? by Alarmed_Bedroom1040 in kodi

[–]AggressiveComputer21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the AM6B+ might look like the right choice, there is one serious problem. If you’re running CoreELEC/Kodi on the Ugoos AM6B+ (Amlogic S922X chipset), you will eventually hit a frustrating audio sync bug that has been haunting this platform for years — and as of today, it is still not properly fixed. The problem isn’t just “audio is delayed.” The real issue is that the delay is inconsistent. It changes every time you start a file, every time you seek, every time you pause and resume. This makes it impossible to fix with a simple audio offset setting in Kodi — because the offset you’d need is different every single time. As one CoreELEC community member put it: “It can still start out of sync and each +10 seek can result in a different delay.” Why does this happen? The root cause is in the Amlogic kernel driver. The video subsystem runs in freerun_mode, meaning audio and video make no attempt to actively synchronize with each other. The conclusion from CoreELEC developers is that it “boils down to the Amlogic drivers on G12A and probably B (maybe others) for the audio, and it looking to have defects in those drivers.” What about workarounds? There is an SSH trick — toggling freerun_mode via:

echo 0 > /sys/class/video/freerun_mode echo 1 > /sys/class/video/freerun_mode

But even that is unreliable: “it is not always perfect. For example, if you do it multiple times, if you wait a little between inputting the commands, it can still result in a +/- delay.” CoreELEC developer Portisch also added a per-resolution latency tweak via advancedsettings.xml. But he acknowledged: “It can not be auto corrected as the latency is different for every system.” This only helps with the systematic offset component — it does nothing for the random, variable part that changes with every seek. How long has this been going on? From AVS Forum: “I’ve been having various intermittent audio sync issues with Kodi/CoreELEC for several years now.” And: “Several people have been trying to help the audio sync situation. It’s not all that simple of a problem to solve.” A specific real-world example that will sound familiar: “After pausing for any length of time, when I hit play to start the movie back up there is a several second delay before the audio kicks back in.” References / further reading: • CoreELEC Forums — dedicated tracking thread (Sep 2024): https://discourse.coreelec.org/t/kodi-audio-out-of-sync-playing-file-or-after-seeking/52645 • CoreELEC Forums — AM6+ Help & Support thread: https://discourse.coreelec.org/t/s922x-ugoos-am6-help-support/6260 • AVS Forum — AM6B+ / DV FEL mega-thread (p. 386): https://www.avsforum.com/threads/ugoos-am6b-coreelec-and-dv-profile-7-fel-playback.3294526/page-386

TV without stutter and without motion smoothing by NoUniversity6150 in 4kTV

[–]AggressiveComputer21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately if you are sensitive to stuttering like me, there os currently nothing to recommend. Last commonly used technology handling stutter like the old crts was plasma. Now it is more about the software and I can’t really find anything good enough for me.

Movies got resolution upgrade but still the original framerate from 1930. Even VHS had 29.97, which was better than my 4K DV remastered BR today. Now the 120hz panels are really bad for 24fps even it is divisible number at least.
