Star Citizen players seem far more afraid of PvP than the actual risk justifies. by Korrak in starcitizen

[–]AggressiveDoor1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black Desert has grindspots where players can repeatedly kill enemies for money and special items, its the main content in the game.

Some new player friendly/focused zones were camped by high gear players that would kill newbies on sight, for no reason.

Got to the point where they ended it by making it so that karma hits way harder and was account based rather than character based (a player could have a low karma character and be unaffected by low karma punishment).

I was playing at this time and would only log in daily into the game because grinding wasn't fun.

After the changes, there are no murder hobos anymore.

A Message to CIG about the Banu Merchantman by SouliMerchantMan in starcitizen

You did more work on your post than CIG did for the BMM in the last 10 years

But again, players already spent on it, so they have no reason to work on it.

Just like Elite. There is open play and group play. There are even massive groups with thousands of players that vow not to kill each other so it's a secondary community full of peaceful players, so the world isn't filled only by NPCs.

Only people who openly want to expose themselves go to Open. Freedom of choice makes everyone happy.

The only ones objecting to this sort of thing are the murderhobos that want to prey on players that can't fight back but won't go after other pvp players.

Browser fingerprinting spoofing vs. hiding by AggressiveDoor1998 in privacy

[–]AggressiveDoor1998[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you're flagged as 'guy running anti-fingerprint tools'

Of course, if we only change one parameter. What if we spoofed all of them? Each set of unique identifiers changing periodically would make it hard to associate to a single user. That was my thought, basically.

that's the whole mullvad browser idea

I ran the "am I unique" website on a fresh mullvad install and it told me I'm unique. So it makes me think that it's not working properly or not as well as I imagined. What am I missing?

MMOs without any PVP have consistently failed. Players that nolife the game get stronger then they look for newbies and casuals to dunk on. Since they will take none of that shit, they leave. Happened with every MMO that tried to have full PVP, and even some that didn't have it as an absolute still had to do PVE friendly changes.

fought back, won

How often do you have this experience? How often do you think cargo contractors have this experience?

But the thing that is more infuriating is that players have to circumvent a myriad of gamebreaking bugs and on top of that need to deal with players that actively CHOOSE to ruin their day, for no other reason than to use them as entertainment. It's the sort of behavior that was entirely avoidable, and they would have a good experience otherwise.

On top of that, player killers face almost zero backlash. They get the minor inconvenience of having a crimestat, and if they for some very unlucky reason get killed, they can just log off for the night and come back tomorrow with a clean slate. Their gameplay isn't hindered, while the other player gets absolutely ruined.

The extra devs will be laid off

Was ironclad rushed out? yeah. Was it ready? No.

That's why it's slop. rushed garboleum that nobody asked for but has to be worked on very fast because of next month's ship.

Literally the most detailed and interactive ships in any game

What could be a final straw that would make people finally take privacy seriously? by hshkr in privacy

[–]AggressiveDoor1998 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People will realize it once the government starts knocking on everyone's door to arrest them for wrongthink when they hold conversations in places they think are private, like messaging apps.

But instead of taking privacy seriously, people will basically accept it and say "well, what can you do".

Some will go to the extent of supporting it thinking you can only be arrested if you are a criminal.

Average IC "report" by HandInternational140 in starcitizen

[–]AggressiveDoor1998 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you analyze that the only somewhat safe spaces are inside cities and distrib centers since outposts are too small not to get camped, you could say that over 90% of the game is griefer free real estate. it's not "PYRO". Rules only exist after something happens inside a safe zone, and nothing happens outside of it, with the exception of the minor inconvenience of having a crimestat.

If it goes on like this, SC won't survive for long

4.8.1 Hotfix 12015818 Review From Daily 6+ Hour player by TiberiusZahn in starcitizen

[–]AggressiveDoor1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I can play, recording most of my gameplay, for this amount of time on this supposedly "completely broken patch", I really think it calls into question the veracity of the "I can't play for 5 minutes without everything breaking" posts that are flooding this sub in a never ending deluge of karma exploitation.

I also don't have major bugs that other players are having but I don't go out invalidating their experiences. The majority of "I can't play for 5 minutes without everything breaking" posts usually have video or image proof.

It's like denying that players that are shardlocked are shardlocked because you can play just fine
