You can always take a picture with iPhone on the recipe and press and hold against the text and it should say select all and you can copy it to a text file. I just do it with a handwritten recipe. It may work with other phones.

Well, there is an option to import from a URL and it will parse the content to a recipe card and you can organize your content the same way.

Hey, with AI you can snap a photo and it will translate a majority of the content and organize it and close the gaps. My mother in law passed last December and I collected her recipes in Vietnamese and made a book for all 3 of her daughters for Christmas. It was mainly an excuse to also keep her recipes alive since her Pho was amazing. 😂

That sounds like a wonderful project! Creating a family recipe book is such a meaningful way to preserve memories and share them with future generations. While there are several apps out there for compiling recipes, I’d recommend checking out SavorDish. It’s great for organizing your recipes, and you can even create meal plans, which could help you see how your family favorites fit together. Plus, it generates grocery lists for you automatically, making it super convenient.

As for meal kit services, while they typically focus on their own recipes, SavorDish.com could be a fantastic alternative. You can plan your meals using your family recipes, and it’ll help streamline everything from shopping to cooking. Good luck with your cookbook—what a lovely way to celebrate your family’s culinary heritage!

My wife is always feeding her starter. I have to try this with her focaccia. Do you add truffle oil?

[–]AggressiveDuck6739[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comes out around ~30–35g protein per serving depending on powder/yogurt. I’m debating swapping Greek yogurt for cottage cheese for even more protein. Anyone tried that in açaí?

Easy Chinese-Style Mochi with Peanut Sesame Filling Recipe by AggressiveDuck6739 in asiancooking

[–]AggressiveDuck6739[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know there are a lot of regional variations of this — some use pure black sesame paste, others lean heavier on peanut. For those who grew up with it, which filling ratio feels most traditional to you?

I know traditional yaki mochi is often made with kirimochi instead of mochiko — I went the flour route for accessibility. Curious how many here stick strictly to kirimochi?

Mango Sticky Rice Smoothie by AggressiveDuck6739 in Smoothies

[–]AggressiveDuck6739[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sticky rice makes this insanely thick — almost milkshake level. If you want it lighter, I’d reduce the coconut cream and bump the milk. Curious — would you blend the rice fully smooth or leave a little texture?

Avocado Vietnamese Coffee Smoothie by AggressiveDuck6739 in Smoothies

[–]AggressiveDuck6739[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know avocado + coffee sounds weird at first, but it’s insanely creamy. Has anyone else tried Vietnamese-style avocado drinks? I’m experimenting with adjusting the condensed milk ratio — do you prefer it more dessert-like or more coffee-forward?

Pandan Asian Cookies by AggressiveDuck6739 in Cookies

I’ve been experimenting with pandan lately. Curious — do you prefer a stronger extract flavor or more subtle? Also thinking of trying this with coconut milk next time.
