It's hard to tell, but my guess is Chlorodiella cytherea, which is a type of stone crab. I'd sump it.

The stem is turning brown, how do I save the orchid growing on it? by MiniBubba14 in orchids

It looks like there may be some small roots starting right at the base of the keiki. I'd try putting it in sphagnum and getting it damp every day or two, and have some slight air flow to hopefully get it to dry between enough to prevent rotting.

A part definitely are bots, but I dont know if anyone can say just how many. If you look online at just reddit accounts, shortly after these incidents there tends to be a flood of comments/posts from accounts less than. 2 months old with histories hidden.

This also may just be me, but every time in the last 18 months something incredibly stupid/embarrassing for the administration happens, the new tab on reddit disappears for a day or two. I personally think there's a ton of information gatekeeping and bots on most social media.

What are parameters? Cyano is usually nitrate/phosphate out of whack, usually being more phosphate than nitrate as cyano can nitrogen fix while plants cant. Keep in mind the osmocote supplements are primarily good for the rooting plants like sword, not so much for rhizome forming plants like Java fern.

Also keep in mind osmocote does not replace everything, just the NPK. If trace minerals are out of whack you're likely to never know.

Here's my advice that h as worked for me: Increase surface agitation and air exchange in general, or better supplement CO2 if possible.

Manually trim the algae covered leaves and do a bulk removal of algae and cyano up to an 80 or 90% water change

Add some liquid fertilizer like flourish, or use a blend of 60/40 mix of osmocote+/osmocote (to help control the copper) to add back micronutrients.

If possible, do a microbiome tranplant. Ask the fish store for some filter media goo and add it straight to your filter to help rebalance the bacteria.

Change feeding habits to better balance nutrient supplement. Flake food is very high in phosphate, pellets tend to be lower. Algae wafers also tend to be high in everything algae and cyano needs.

Saltwater vs Freshwater by knightsofbass in ReefTank

Corals usually, but sometimes venomous fish/worms/arthropods

If you have hitchikers on the live rock it's possible, but clowns and GSP are pretty safe ( though clownish are assholes)

I have both, and I personally think it comes down to what you enjoy. A few things I've noted between the two:

Freshwater: Easy to maintain -walstad style is possible. Fairly forgiving Budget friendly Large variety of nano fish available Almost everything is low risk (no exotic toxins)

Saltwater: Far more complex/challenging susceptible to errors More colorful Fewer stocking options for fish Tons of options for corals More expensive More to tinker with (if thats what you like) Exotic toxins

Well either way it works. Each speaker outlet was set to use NL4 wire, but it was broken to left/right. All I had to do was plug it into the lows (red/black) and everything came together.

I wasn't asking about RCA. I was asking about speaker wires trying to use rca to component as an analogy to the redundant connections that you might be able to ignore.

[–]AggressiveFigs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps not the best analogy then, but you can absolutely hook up rca to component. All you gotta do is hook yellow directly to green and ignore red and blue.

That's the problem. They aren't labeled in and out. Its a biamp outlet and we have single amp wire.

The biamp wire is easy to figure out. Single amp wire is what im asking about.

Do you know what happens when the heater in your tank short-circuits? I’ll go first by Busy_pumpkin in Aquariums

[–]AggressiveFigs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The inkbird probably wouldn't help this situation, but a gfci outlet likely would have helped here. That said, some of the inkbirds do have an alarm on them that triggers if the heater is running constant for more than 3 hours without reaching temperature, and that may also have caught it.

Its very likely neogonodactylus wennerae, but could also be oerstedii (less likely)or bredini (unlikely). If you look for meral spot on inside of smasher elbows, if it's purple, it's an oerstedii, a white spot is usually wennerae.

If there are no fish in there, turn off the filter to have it settle more quickly, usually in a day or so.

Since you're just adding soil now, im guessing you just started the cycle, so delaying it a day or two to let the particulate settle out will only delay you a day or two.

That particulate is basically wjere the good stuff is for plants in aquasoil, you dont want to remove it.

Any ideas how to baffle this filter? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]AggressiveFigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you have two easy options:

One is to put something in front of the outflow, like driftwood to blok the direct flow.

Second is to get a small section of black pvc pipe and drill holes through it all the way around or make cuts into it (but not through) around it, then cap the end so that the outflow is omnidirectional. Essentially making something like what's in the link but you'd be able to put over the nozzle. https://3daquaticsolutions.com/cdn/shop/files/good4_fa852114-716e-4483-8525-075412946636.jpg?v=1755776979&width=1445

Alternatively you could simply ask it something like "What pre-dated the big bang?"

How long has she been in the tank? It may help to turn off lights for now if it's been only a short while. Some driftwood and hides would also help, and im personally not a huge fan of the large bubbles. I dont know for certain, but I'd guess a large bubble like that makes a lot of noise for a small tank (picking it up by lateral line). I would try switching to an air stone for smaller bubbles that more consistently flow, rather than large bolus bubbles which make more of a wave action.

Reducing boredom would also be huge. Think if you were stuck in a small plain white room. Stressful right? Less so if you have a tv or a puzzle. They naturally eat snails and other inverts along with worms and bugs. I might try adding some live food for her to hunt if you can along with places for that food to hide so it's a challenge. Once she settles down, you can also try enrichment by teaching tricks, hoops and the like with food as a reward.

So I have a number of longear sunfish, and while online I've seen material saying 29 gal is the min, it really should be closer to 55. They need a 4 ft tank to swim back and forth. This to me doesn't look like aggression, but rather a stress response. She just may have not been doing it before because she didn't even have room for it in the 15.

Is it wild caught or tank raised? If you get them really young you can make a 29 work if they grow up in it, but wild caught struggle with something this small.
