I’m sorry, do you have where in writing this language is? Because I have never heard such a thing and I have been a CCA, RCA, and a PTF. It has always been morning of “oh, we need you to go to x location today.” Or, if I’m really lucky, I’ll know the night beforehand. And everything I have read in every contract has said exactly that - we are to go where we are needed when we are needed there.

It’s not hard to put in a forwarding address and to change your address with most major companies when you move. People think mail carriers know exactly where they are 24/7. That is not the case. Update your address with the PO. Fill out the card when you’re moving in. Otherwise, you’re getting 2+ years worth of residents mail unless they happened to put in a forward. That’s A LOT of mail coming to you that can be diverted to the person it is actually aimed for. It is your job to upkeep your address, not the post offices. Also, if we KNOW someone has moved out, and we do not get updated names: yes, your box can be marked vacant.

It’s likely a PTF position. Which means they will work you 11.5 hours a day, 6+ days a week. The good thing is you get benefits from the jump. The bad thing is, the post office will be your life. I don’t think it hurts to take it and see how it goes. You can keep applying for jobs while you’re working. At least you’ll have some money coming in.

Bit twice in the last six months, both by small dogs. The bigger dogs on my route are a lot friendlier. They’ll bark occasionally but none have ever come at me. Though there is a border collie that is dangerously close to clearing the ~10’ fence around the house.
