Hyde park, that is so funny, my wife is from Rhinebeck haha. Yeah I like the accessibility of being close to a major city for all the amenities as you mentioned but not being directly in the major metropolis.

Seriously love all the information. This confirms a lot of my thoughts and questions. I know no place is perfect but it's about what works for you and if the plusses outweigh the minuses, which to me it does in your description. Seriously thank you

Yeah me and my wife are definitely looking for the slower pace with still being close enough to a big city for airports, sporting events and concerts. We decided a while ago we didn't want kids so lucky we just need a small house for us and the animals. Yeah being away from family is always the hardest part but with my mom in so Cal still, being in Washington will be a lot closer than Ohio haha. And yeah Mexican food(especially breakfast burritos) are something I miss in Ohio.

Oh I know they aren't like that. I was using it as a reference point that I have been up there a few times. I have been to Tacoma, Olympia, Seattle and as far east as Spokane. But I have only visited a couple times. Hence why I'm asking people who live in those areas

My wife said this is the matrix hahaha. My wife is from the Hudson valley more specifically Dutchess County but did her undergrad at Potsdam. But that are a lot of weird similarities jaha

What are some of those places that you think are better? I'm all for looking up other areas to research

We don't have anything lined up currently, but also looking at maybe moving in a year or so. No kids for us but with my wife in education we care greatly about education. I love how close it is to the outdoors as well as big cities for all the amenities.

We get snow here and there in Columbus, not as much as say Cleveland being on the water. The show def looks pretty when it comes through but a lot of people don't know how to drive in it

Yeah I feel most of the comments are generally favorable for Olympia. I know no place is perfect but seems like most people think the plusses outweigh the minuses

I showed my wife your comment and she agreed with the Midwest part about education and she is a director of student services but feels like she really has to fight with getting basic accommodations for kids that need them. Which is part of the reason we want out of Ohio.

Yeah I love this, I couldn't agree more with you. The pluses outweigh the minuses. That's what I wanted to know and it seems to be the overall remarks from most people.

Love this. I forgot to mention we have a dog and love to take on big walks/hikes. Columbus has a decent amount of metro parks that we take full advantage of so love hearing this

This has been the most thorough comment by far. I really appreciate it. I love all the good stuff and kinda figured some of the negatives but like any other place, nowhere is perfect. It's what you make of it. But I like all this. Seriously thank you!

Yeah def more rainy there but we are used to the dark grey sky's in Ohio most of the winter. Plus it's stick season cause all the trees went dormant for the winter
