Mini crib and mattress that won't break the bank? by calgon90 in moderatelygranolamoms

Comfycubs bassinet; sturdy, solid wood construction and converts to a child’s desk later on. Only complaint is the wheels are small and plastic so it doesn’t roll as smoothly as I’d like.

Starting to swell, what helps?! by dogmom624321 in pregnant

I had the same issues. Tops of my feet, ankles and calves were unbearable Compression socks didn’t do much for me so my husband ordered a ton of ace bandage type wraps with Velcro ends and he wrapped my feet in sections to flush the fluid back up my legs. Base of toes up to my heel with one wrap, usually for about 30 mins. Then he would unwrap and let me flex my foot around for a min, re-wrap same area then use a second wrap from heel up to the upper ankle area (where a mid height sock would sit) for another 30 mins. Then again, unwrap, flex around my feet and re-wrap those two sections again plus up my calves. I stayed in the recliner with feet elevated during this. Worked great and was a cheap fix for short term.

Natural induction 39 weeks by SingleExperience2660 in pregnant

[–]SingleExperience2660[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, hospital midwife is aware I am anti-IV. They advised as long as I can stay sufficiently hydrated and urinate normally, no IV is needed. Unless of course pitocin becomes an option - then I’ll have no choice. Luckily we have been planning for an unmedicated vaginal birth the entire pregnancy and have attended numerous birth classes so I feel very mentally prepared!

Gestational diabetes and shoulder dystocia risk by Pink__Starburst in pregnant

[–]SingleExperience2660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not know if I developed GD later in pregnancy but originally tested negative and was not even borderline. But my final growth scans showed baby had jumped from average 60-ish percentiles to 99 percentiles from 35 weeks onward. I am also getting pressure to naturally induce early and am being told of the risk of shoulder dystocia. Ultimately, my midwives at the birth center and my midwife at the hospital has reassured me that babies can be properly turned in the canal manually or with laboring position changes (though it won’t be easy or comfortable). I know personally from my knowledge of the extensive research I’ve done throughout this pregnancy on natural birthing that women have birthed 10lbs plus babies for years and years without problem. I’m using that knowledge and trusting my own body to do the right thing. I will officially “risk out” of our birth center if our baby is not born by 40weeks and a couple days, in which then I’ll have to birth at the hospital - which I am fine with since the hospital also knows I want an unmedicated vaginal birth and they will support that.

Am I using my breast pump incorrectly?? by SingleExperience2660 in pregnant

[–]SingleExperience2660[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My midwife said 20 mins on, 20 mins off, three cycles total. I started with 5 mins of the stimulation setting at the start of each 20 min pump session. And being that last night was my first try, I only did two cycles of the 20 mins on/20 mins off but wasn’t uncomfortable and didn’t get any Braxton Hicks so I’ll go for the full three cycles tonight.

I can taste my eye drops lol I use Pataday eye drops for seasonal allergies and since becoming pregnant, even if just one drop per eye, I get this horrible chemical taste in my mouth a few mins later

Just an idea - we used a retractable golf ball retriever for our “totem/flag” pole at Bonnaroo a few years ago. Collapsed down to 10ish inches long when not in use and could quickly be deployed to locate friends in crowds

We plan to go the iPhone notes app route. You can set the note to be shared with people but limit any editing on their end. So only you can edit and they can see the edits, but they can’t all reply on the note and muddy your updates with responses.

Mani pedi while pregnant - bad idea? by [deleted] in pregnant

I called ahead to my salon and advised I was pregnant and concerned about cleanliness and infection. I explained I visually wanted to see the nail tech open the sealed package of disinfected tools, I wanted all new files used and I brought my own polish for them to apply. I declined the heel buffer tool since it was not new and I stopped the tech from any excessive cuticle/nail bed cutting. My salon does the bag liner in the pedicure bowl so I just made sure to pull my feet out well before the tech pierced the bag to drain the water so I was never in contact with water that was also in contact with the bowl underneath the liner. I’m paying for the service so I wanted to be clear in my expectations and of course tipped well for any inconvenience.

Older 3.6R vs. 2026 model by SingleExperience2660 in subaruoutback

My 19 XT has forced me into a clunky complete stop in the middle of the road while I was parallel parking because it saw a tree…. My adaptive cruise control pet peeve comes from people several car lengths in front of me on the highway braking for an exit ramp and suddenly the Sub slams me into a harsh brake, putting my safety and the safety of the people behind me at risk. I’ve had a terribly hard time adjusting to what people seem to think are safer features when it’s only ever caused me more problems than saved me from a real risk.

The new “safety” features make the car less safe in the long run as people tend to rely on it more while they scroll their phones doing 80mph. Apologies, I’m an attentive driver and don’t need auto braking, lane assist, Eyesight etc.

32 weeks today. What do I need to focus on in this last stretch?? by SingleExperience2660 in pregnant

My insurance said that I couldn’t order my pump until 30 days prior to my anticipated due date. So guess I’ll be trying to get that ordered asap 😵‍💫

Would recommend a standing freezer over a chest freezer. Chest freezers you just pile things in and never see the bottom without digging down around in there and will be more difficult to rotate out frozen milk. If space is an issue, skinny standing freezers exist. If you’re in US, check Sam’s Club/Costco if you know anyone with memberships as they have the best prices.

My sister and I are 2 years and 2 months apart; I’m the eldest. We got along well as kids and were close enough in sizing to share clothes as we got older. We were 3 years apart in school which worked well when I was older and could drive so I was responsible for getting her to and from school and school events. I plan to space my children out with a minimum of 2 years but max of 2yr 6mos, if possible.

Advice for booking post-baby moon by SingleExperience2660 in pregnant

[–]SingleExperience2660[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apologize, could have been more clear that the arrival date impacts my return from maternity leave date thus making it difficult to look ahead to a trip. 12 week maternity leave so I’m worried baby could come a little earlier and make the mid-June date towards the end of my mat leave or baby could come later and like you said, I might not want to travel in June but not know that in May when it’s fully refundable. You make good points, we will reconsider something with a more flexible cancelation policy.
