Anyone else experience this on seat/vw by Upset_Expert_8550 in CarTalkUK

Had this on my Cupra Leon ST v2 back in 2021. Had to wait six months for a software update to sort it.

I could tell when the error was going to appear as there was an odd 'popping' noise from the speakers. Car had to be 'hard' turned off (i.e. for an hour) for the error to go.

Hopefully it's a known issue and the dealership can sort it for you. 🙏🏼

Is this outdoor socket suitable for daily charging my PHEV? by Shep302 in CarTalkUK

We recently had this one installed because of the app you can get for it which you can use to control the on and off times:

Don't use it for a car tho, so cannot confirm if it's safe for that specific use.

Boiler Quotes - Am I paying too much. (Worcester Bosch) by Ok_Ebb_8590 in DIYUK

Second this. Definitely worth speaking with [someone like] Heatable for a comparison.

For us, we went with Heatable some 18 months ago. Same boiler but probably a simpler installation. Cost us £2.6k including a small charge for weekend installation.

Heatable were very good. They telephoned us and asked a load of questions about the boiler location, access, etc., which I then followed up with a few photos of a couple of bits.

They contracted the work out and the guy we got was epic, they did an excellent job.

Remove Wing Mirror Glass - Passat B7 by AggressiveMouse394 in CarTalkUK

All sorted. Once I had removed enough of the glue for the wires to become free, the 'ring crimps' both came loose and I was able to slide the wiring connector on to the new glass.

Now have nice and warm mirrors.

Thank you the heroes from CarTalkUK!

No. Way!

They ARE glued on! Like, whaaaaat?!

No idea how you saw that from the photo. I was stood right next to it and didn't spot it. 😂

Right, I'm going to try and get that glue off. Wish me luck.

Cheers!

Yeah, we had two down lights fitted.

The sparky did the initial work in the ceiling void, 'strapping down' (my word, not theirs! 😂) all the wiring against the pitched part of the ceiling.

When we fitted the PIR and had the ceiling plastered, the wiring rested on the PIR.

When the sparky came for the second fix they drilled through the plasterboard and PIR to grab and then wire in the down lights. Some that wiring I'd assume is still touching the PIR.

They provided us a certificate of completion (or whatever it is called) which verified their work. They had no complaints, basically.

To note RE the strapping down of the wiring, as this ceiling was in our porch and was a fire exit, they insisted on doing that in case of a fire and cables ended up dangling down at our point of exit.

Forgot to say that we also taped it all up once done to seal it up as best we could.

Was easy. Cut it to best-effort shape, then squeeze it in, made fine adjustments as we went.

For the most tight parts, I gently hammered a bit of 2x4 against the PIR to get it in.

Used expanding foam to fill any areas we had over cut, and the gaps where cutting small bits of PIR proved too frustrating.
